Hi, i'm new to the simulator scene.. does anybody know if simtools is compatible with the joyride A2 motion chair?
and if so, how to setup? or add the interface plugin (JoyRideXSimPlugin.dll) it came with so simtools recognizes the actuators..
I currently have no idea what actuators are used inside the chair. but the interface plugin (JoyRideXSimPlugin.dll) it came with works with x-sim 2 and x-sim 3..
id appreciate any help on this

    thanks in advance

looks like they have a SDK, but I did not see it for download.

@ohno , do you have a joyrider sim already? I think they use SCN6 . Are you planning a similar build?
I have done a rough copy of this in the past with dc motors.

Joyrider sims have a movable balance point as well to compensate for heavier and lighter drivers to maintain a balance point on its pivot.
This I have experimented with as well using seat rails. Cannot find pics, but the wheel/pedals/seat was movable back and forth and the motors, pivot, connections stayed still. Hence moving the weight balance on a pivot. It worked well.

@bsft , that looks cool! yes I own one.. ive had it for a year now.. and it works extremely well for large or small riders.. Unfortunately I have no idea how to take it apart to find out which actuators it uses.. I contacted the company to find out.. should hear back from them soon

usually the manufacturer doesnt like the end user messing with its equipment, but to get it running with simtools, check with yobuddy and the boys. They may have an idea.

I have an Atomic A2 and they have 2 24v stepper motors. I know the A2 is compatible with X-sim but not sure how to use with SimTools, either.

    • Dual high-speed, high-precision 400mm/s (100N) actuators with maintenance-free brushless stepper motors
    • Patented load-compensating ForceAssistTM technology maximises performance while minimising actuator power
    requirement
    • RealFeelTM closed-loop hardware controller ensures jitter-free movement to impart organic motion

    @jonmho
Can you show me how you would setup xsim?
Then I can try to translate it to simtools for you.

Thx yobuddy! I have not used x-sim that much yet, at least to build my own profile, but I have used others' x-sim profiles to try and find one that works in Simphynity (Atomic A2's proprietary software). The Simphynity software has an option to use x-sim's input which I then control with Simphynity. I have only gotten this to work a little with GameStockCar2013. It's difficult to find an x-sim profile for my stepper-motor actualtors. Most use SCN. I've not spent time trying to extract motion using x-sim and forming my own profile. It looked like SimTools would be easier for us dufus'. :) If I could get the SDK, would that be better for you?

forgot to mention, Symphynity uses an x-sim plugin.

Could you show me a pic of the setup in xsim so I know what your saying buddy?
    Thanks man!

Hi, have an Atomic A2 too.
Try to make it work for Assetto Corsa without success (x sim).

Just try to help you Jonnho for GSC 2012/2013/extreme

in the symphynity, choose game, rfactor.
Click on the icon tool and change the path directory to c:\ .....\gsc.exe instead of c:\....\rfacor.exe

GSC series are rF based engine and the A2 effects are better in Rf / GSC than other simulations IMHO.

Sent you a PM too ...

    Cheers

do you mean how they adjust the balance point? for heavier and lighter drivers?

I believe that when you install the "Simphynity" software, the install folder contains a dll and the "know-how" to send info to this simulators software "Simphynity". If someone with one of these simulators cool take a look in their install folder for this dll and or a document on this subject, I would appreciate it!

Yes, there are several dll's and intructions for using them. Depends on the game. Which dll/document you looking for?

So I can support the simulator!

Been over a week since I inquired about the Simphynity SDK from AMS (Atomic Motion Simulators). No response, so all I can do for now is give you the files I have for using X-sim with the simulator. The A2 uses a proprietary USB IO board. For security the Simphynity software will not start up without the simulator plugged into the USB port.

    Thanks,
But these files won't do anything for us.

Sure would be nice if the company answered at least one of the people emailing them.
What's the point of the SDK that you can't get your hands on lol.

They have been responsive to my emails in the past. I wasn't sure if you could reverse engineer the x-sim dll to see how it outputs to Simphynity or not. I'm not a programmer. Hopefully they will respond soon. :(

I have asked for the SDK kit twice now and no reply.
With an SDK I could easily build an interface like the K8055 I recently completed.

While I haven't attempted to look up the patent, my guess is it's very much like a joystick gimbal that uses springs to return it to center position. It just uses much larger springs or maybe some other mechanism to store the energy until it is released when returning to center position. If the patent laws in the UK are similar to the USA (I assume they are), even though this idea may already be patented for joystick use, it can still be patented for use in a different field if someone else has not already done so!
