    I have done some initial setting up on 2DOF, which resulted in a couple of issues.

    First, as the DX Racer is pretty light the motors can actually momentarily lift the back of it off the floor when the power is flicked on and the levers snap to their center location. The second is that the 25:1 can't indefinitely hold the Fanatec wheel and pedals when nobody is sitting in the sim for counter balance, the motors eventually give way. Hence I have ordered these 60:1 gearboxes, which should solve both problems.

    This is the temporary working rats nest, until I build the HOTAS mounts and switch panels, the mounts and proper fans for the JRKs and rout a bunch of the wires through the frame...still a long way to go.

    Looks great. I was wondering how 25:1 would go with that wheel on it, but as you said, 60:1 will hold it. Just change the PID and motor settings to make it snappy.

    When the gearboxes arrive I get to pull it all apart yet again...oh well I am getting pretty good at that!

    It will be interesting to check how the motor mounts are holding up so far. I am considering beefing them up a little more for the possible torque of the 60:1, while I have it apart. You have used the 60:1 before @bsft so does that sound wise?

    The 25:1 holds OK for the flight joystick/pedals and seemed to do alright motion/reaction wise on the rough profile I was messing with for LFS with a keyboard and DCS, just too much leverage with the heavy Fantac gear.

    I used the 60:1 on a mates full frame, because he wanted 18 deg total throw. So we needed the torque to move the thing. That and there are 80mm CTC levers on it, shoulder mount at the rear.

    Great job, very clean and detailed @noorbeast. :thumbs This sim and a real show !! Well done. The slide CNC to simulate acceleration under the seat is a great idea and also the sub as you have placed an innovative idea! ;) Then a sim so compact not is easy to work in such a short space. I can not wait to see the movement of the sim however, already imagine it will be great.

    The 60:1 gearboxes have just arrived so I will need to pull it all apart and redo the motor and pot mounts, plus make up new arms for the solid shaft of the 60:1. I have friends over the weekend after next so if I get all that done by then, plus some basic profile setting, I can capture some video while I have some willing crash test dummies.

    Wow, I will have to set aside some time to truly enjoy this whole thread. I see we have similar tastes. The CSW wheel and the fact that you apreciate 90's Japanese sports cars. I would love to have a Supra but cn't find one in my price range so I settled for a 90 300zx TT :D

    nothing wrong with that. I had the opportunity to drive a 500 HP at the rear wheels power twin turbo Z years ago. Once it got traction at about 180 kph, it then really took off. Until the speedo hit 250kph, then I though Id better slow down. Monster of a Z.

    ok thanks I will have to call him, the only ones I can see on his site are the 20mm solid shaft, but it looks from your photos, the box shaft is hollow allowing a bolt to go through it.

    EDIT, I spoke to Shane and he says to knock the shaft out and replace with 20mm bolt.
    I might have a dig online and look for something. It was a nightmare for me getting the others setup for my mate.

    My 60:1 is solid shaft @bsft, the pics so far are the old 25:1.

    I have photos of how to turn the solid shaft around, the new leavers that have been made for it and am just starting on the new brackets for the potentiometers. However my internet has been down since last Thursday and still no info as to when it will be back up. Hence I will post pics when I am next over at my sisters place.

    I would rather just get the gearbox with a hollow shaft. I have seen them. I will dig around on the net

    My internet is still down but here is a quick update. I will add more photos and details later.

    I rotated one of the shafts in the new 60:1 gearboxes. New keyway located leavers have been made for the solid shafts with 40, 60 and 80 CTC options. I have strengthened the motor mounts further.

    I have made new brackets for the potentiometers, which attach to the motors via tapping the shaft M8 and making up a threaded shaft.

    I have made the HOTAS mounts. The various steel bits have now been painted.

    I have also included some shots of the modded alloy project boxes that house the JRKs. The heat sink attach to the alloy boxes via pegs and thermal paste to further enhance cooling. Each will have a 120mm fan with its own LED light show and billet fan shrouds.

    I am putting it all back together again at the moment for further testing.

    Hi, recommend you open up the top of your alloy boxes for maximum air flow where the fans will sit on top (opening to be the size of your fan blade), as I don't think those small holes will allow suitable air flow. FYI I have also placed a hole right under where the circuit card is mounted which allows the air to pass around the card. My latest design is although a bit different, using a large clear plastic tube with a push/pull configuration Ie. fans at each end.
