Well, good news and bad news... The guy was a gentleman and refunded for the JRKs I ordered. I think I will turn around and order the 12v12 from him to return the favor. The other guy was not as nice and already shipped the 2 PSUs. Looks like the specs are the same but the connectors are definitely different. Anyone know of how I can figure the pinout and still use them? I checked that big PSU list page but I don't think that model is listed :D

Oh well, worse case is I have to turn around and re-list them and buy the proper ones.

Searched for a good ½ hr and couldn't find anything on them HP Proliant Power Supply DL320S

    Sorry bud,

PS the gear we are suggesting is usually the cheapest and most effective, 100$ motor's is nothing, Go source what a SCN5 in a measly 100mm throw will run ya, You might be in for a surprise.

Well, the power supply ebayer wrote to me and said I can send it back for a refund, but shipping makes it not worth it. It looks like they are going in the garbage and I'll order the ones that were recommended like I should have to begin with!

Instead of me having to cut up the old drive shaft I have and welding two plates to it,do you guys think this think here will work? I will just have to fab up something for the one side and it's not as big and bulky. I'd like to keep the seat as low as possible while still getting enough movement, but if there is a minimum height I should have from the base to the seat, please let me know. Here it is the joint:
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/81-83-YAMAH...Parts_Accessories&hash=item58a261092e&vxp=mtr

Also, if I do use those crab motors, do you think it is possible to retain the use of my current seat out of a Mitsu Eclipse or will it definitely be too heavy? I am trying to keep cost down and stay under the wife's radar. She probably won't notice much of the project but new seat will get her attention. Thanks.

I can't see any dimensions on the uni but it should be fine, others have used Landrover steering unis for the same reason.

If you are pondering the Desk Racer design then with your existing seat I would recommend that you definitely go with 50:1 motors. Any idea what the existing seat weighs?

Have not weighed it but I'd guess 40-50lbs. I removed the side airbag from the bolster so that may havelightened it a bit. I might be able to remove the sliding mechanism since it won'tbe used in the rig once it goes motion. That might lighten it bit too. Never added, I weigh about 225lbs, are those motors going to be able to move me?

I have read that some guys are against the arduino route but the more I dig into this I am finding that it maybe better for me considering my budget and the fact that I am comfortable doing the extra work to get it going.

I am considering scrapping the JRKs and buying the following:

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/331036182607
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/310780916584
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/111230650995
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/360709678160
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/360709678160

All that including the wires and pots is under $50 shipped as opposed to 2x JRK at $200.

I am not 100% sure on this so please someone tell me the pro's and cons!

That would be about 125kg plus build weight so personally I would think the 50:1 would be a good way to go. @bsft what is the max user weight you have had in your Desk Racer sims, I know you had a big friend in your brikkie sim but did he ever try the Desk Racers?

@Pit has done a great job in mastering the Arduino, so would be a good source of advice. I am playing around with the Uno at the moment but am sticking with the JRKs for my DC motor control, great fidelity and simple. Always lots of choices and there are plenty of passionate threads on the pros and cons, so do a search and go with what works for you! Ive personally tested it to about 117 kg. Thats with my younger son on my lap. With 25:1 boxes. But really need 50, 60:1 if you are planning more overall fattage .
I sat my 150kg mate in one of my desk racers, but no motion, the frame nearly bent under his weight.

IMO great choice, serious vendors and the prices are worth. I would buy one potentiometer and MM in reserve. IMHO I would prefer conductive plastic potentiometer instead of cermet potentiometer. Hint: If you @maligator plan to use very strong motors over 300W you have to use one MM for each motor as a half bridge.

This list looks good (arduino, motomonster, cermet pot) but I cannot see the last 2 items because of ebay restrictions...

follow the advice of @Pit : buy 1 motomonster per motor! if you need high current.

+1 there's enough threads out there debating JRK VS ARD already. Just need to make a decision and go with it.
