    Hi,
Wow , I've been on the internet for decades and this proves how big it is. Never seen the site before.
My name is Marco I've been working on several fields(furniture, electricity and automation) and currently working as a software consultant , stumbled on the site yesterday, I have been thinking about building a rig, but not had the time, but this site changes everything. I'll start making plans for what kind of rig I want.
You could come up with suggestion what type of rigs I could start on, is it hard to build a 6DOF rig or should I go for 2DOF/3DOF?

    Cheers
    Marco

2 DOF to get the hang of things, dig through the threads and see if anything takes your interest in building. http://www.xsimulator.net/community/forums/diy-motion-simulator-projects.22/
Also look at control boards as well, theres the JRK, as well as the arduino and h-bridges.
Depends on your skill and patience.

    Hi all.
My name is Daniel from Poland.
This is my 1st sim project .
I have a limited budget (600$), because it is my thesis. But I'm optimistic :)
    I will be using 2 wiper motors, Velleman K8055, Sabertooth 2x12A, stabilized power supply 12v 500W 30-40A.

    1st 3d renders.

Your english is fine. I suggest you start a new thread though and we can help there.
there is support for the K8055 on site as well.
Just one thing with your frame, I suggest you make a motor connection and set it up like this
    2zrjo10.jpg
the sim will perform a LOT better if you do something like that, especially if you use wipers.

    Hey Daniel,
are you sure about the center of gravity? You can find on the forum how they usually find it.

    Good luck with your thesis!

    Hi all,
    RadStandard here from Vancouver, Canada.
Very excited to be part of this community, I salute all of you from around the world, I am new here but not to the simracing scene, switched from Gran Turismo series to PC racing, some of the title I play are Assetto Corsa, IRacing, Raceroom and older Simbin titles, also Game Stock Cars extreme, looking forward to Project Cars.
My rig is basic at the moment with Playseat GT, T500rs, TH8 RS shifter, 2 buttkicker (300 &1000w with respective amps).
When financially permitted, I'd like to build a proper motion sim rig to fully enjoy the potential of this genre, but for now I do have a question for you guys, can I drive my transducers with the sim tools software or is it just for motion

its being worked on in next version of Simtools, that allows transducers and bass shakers

Cheers mate for the good news, guess it would pretty immerssive to have both motion and vibration for engine and gear shift

There will be a heck of a lot more than just engine and gear shift. ;)

    Hi All,
this is a really cool website!!!!
currently I own a custom rig with 6 Base shakers, and 3 monitor setup together with other goodies to aid in realism. My background is mostly on Computer IT related issues. Having a mechanical background also helps in having ideas on how to build things using metal.

3DOF with central spring or 4DOF free float? I believe that 4DOF are nicer as they offer a sort of float feel of the whole rig but 3DOF may be easier and cheaper.
My ideal rig would then be, a rig that is able to go on 4DOF and is able to handle the weight of the seat and 3 monitor, steering wheel and pedals. Budget is under 2000 Euro. How on earth I can do this, I have no idea :)

After looking around in this forum and the internet, I got more lost. Can anyone guide me to what I need? ex. what are the main parts I need.
As most forums here would have people that know what control boards and motors they need beforehand.

In my case I do not know if motors are better than actuators and in any case what methods are needed to control them. Lets take these for example, if I were to design a frame that is able to run on these actuators, what would I need ?

4 Actuators for sure. (sim rig approx weight with me on it is about 300KG)
control boards? or are they built in?
what interface is needed to have it connected to computers?
Once it is connected to the computer how are they recognized by the computer software?

some options I saw if going with actuators: SCN5 or 6

    Motor Options: http://www.motiondynamics.com.au/12v-or-24v-dc-worm-drive-geared-motor-200w-21-256-rpm-7.5-45nm.html

It would be interesting to see the replies for this as it may give me and other possible modders the exact picture of what are the min requiremetns for such an awesome project.

@3LRsc , budget of 2000 euros? Forget SCN products and a 3dof lift, let alone 4 DOF.
Start with either 2 DOF seat mover or a 2 DOF full frame on balance pivot, screens static. (not moving with sim)
Control boards of choice, Pololu JRK 12v12 , one per motor.
Large 12v 200 watt DC motors with either 25:1 or 60:1 geabox depending on frame design and set up (yes similar to those motors linked above)
I suggest you start a new thread with your ideas and we can advise from there.
    Dave.

Hi everybody, my name is Per and i am from Sweden. I an 25 years old and study my first year for engineer exam.
I started for a few weeks ago to work with a Arduino board for learning more about programing and elecetric in generaly on my leisure time. And when i found this forum i started to figure how hard it should be to built my own simulator.
step 1 for me is to connect the arduino to the computer and make two servos to move to the game.
after i solved that i can start to look on the hardware.

    Welcome @sugroret.

You should find @eaorobbie arduino post and plugin helpful in getting started:

    http://www.xsimulator.net/community/threads/rc-model-for-motion-simulation.4600/

    http://www.xsimulator.net/community/marketplace/rc-model-code-for-arduino-uno-2dof-expandable.89/

You can download SimTools here, use your coins as you now have enough of them to access SimTools and plugins: http://www.xsimulator.net/simtools-motion-simulator-software/

When you are ready start a new project thread. You will find people are really interested and helpful, including with your initial model and design ideas.

    thanks noorbeast!
i should look at those links tomorrow evning, when its more time.

I have already downloaded SimTools and test a few things in it. I have connectet my Arduino board to Simtools and succeeded to print out the L and R axis code to a Lcd screen.
Tomorrow i should test to play Assetto corsa and try to get the code to the lcd screen.

becous i am a realy neewbi on both arduino and electri in generaly i want to take the "long way". Shure i can copy and paste one code and built the simulator from drawings. but how fune should that be?
i want to now what i am doing and write my own code to the arduino. And this is a side project i can lay time to when the girlfrend woorks, so it take the time its take ;)

sorry for my bad english btw ;)
