    Hi
We (me and my brother) are working on a 6DOF pneumatic Stewart platform. The platform is for general use including flight simulator. We are very interested to integrate it with a flight or driving simulator (xplane, FSX, rFactor, ...).
This is a picture of the platform designed in SolidWorks.

    Welcome @rezaei

That is an ambitious project, members here would be very interested. SimTools covers a wide range of games, so you would plenty of choice. When you are ready start a build thread and post any plans, ideas, proposed parts list and any questions you may have. You will find members will actively contribute their time and expertise, saving you both time and money.

    Good luck with your project.

hello @Dusko Dogandzic , theres a zillion projects on the go, and the most common is a seat mover 2 DOF with a drift frame under it becoming the 3rd DOF. @Nick Moxley project is one that comes to mind.
Otherwise, maybe something in here may help http://www.xsimulator.net/community/threads/different-2dof-sim-builds-feel-free-to-add-designs.5624/
Controller of simplicity choice would be the Pololu JRK 12v12 , or if you are handy with codes, and Arduino and Monster moto drivers. Theres is a SMC3 prgram that does well.
    Cheers, David.

Well, you all have sucked me in! In a good way though (I hope). I have been reading and reading for a week. I had looked into DIY simulators a few times in the past but it has been a while and oh boy have things come a long way! I have been road racing for many years but could not could get into "game" racing because it just wasn't real enough without being able to feel g-forces etc. Well, this website has made my mind up to give it a go! I think I would like a "full frame" type setup rather than just a "seat mover". Honestly, there are just so many options you all do a great job of helping with that it makes it tough to decide. Knowing me I'll change my mind along the way anyway so just need to get started. I will start my own project thread soon once I get a few parts lined up.

One quick question (hopefully ok to ask here): is .120" wall 1" square steel tubing good to go for building? (with proper bracing and gusseting of course)

Hey @kopper welcome to this forum, I think everybody that thinks about a simulator wanted to build a full frame at first (I surely do), but I have to tell you that once you start planning and ordering stuff the thing you first want is having something that moves and does it soon. So I started with a seat mover, cause is faster to build and gives you a lot of satisfaction, also, you can upgrade to full frame pretty fast knowing what you can expect from it adjusting the project.
Start your own thread, we're always willing to follow WIPs

    Welcome @wthierry

You will find a number of members here are very interested in VR and motion simulation.

When you are ready please create a new build thread and post any planning ideas, questions or even intended shopping lists. You will find a lot of support from very helpful and knowledgeable members.

If you are considering some sort of Stewart platform then be mindful of the costs and potential technical complexity, but don't let that put you off, just be realistic.

Hi all - starter post for me. I am a flight sim enthusiast and I thought a home made cockpit might be a good project for the coming year. I have basic skills all round so I may be asking more than answering at this stage.

I'm a new member, found this forum googling information on building a simulator. I have plans of building a 6 DOF setup once I have the space to do so. I play RF1 with dirtworks designs mods. To get familiar with the setup and programming of the future setup, I will be building a miniature 6 DOF setup for the desktop. Hopefully this will prepare me for the real build. I've learned a lot so far from this forum. I look forward to sharing the experience.

    Hey All,
Like all of you, I find myself itching to build a simulator. I am a big DIY'er from mechanical to electronics perspective. I have a past in racing and take my car on the track from time to time but the simulator games have gotten to such a high level of accuracy that i feel it is time for me to take on this project in order to really get the feel as best as possible. I am still in the process of researching and gathering parts as of now but will be getting started soon I hope. My goal is a 6dof sim capable for race and flying, if possible, and on the lower budget side hopefully.
