    I was curious so had a quick look at what the cost would be for just a base for my DX Racer sim in profile aluminium. It would work out to be AU $514.

    I have not done the top frame costing but to build in profile aluminium would be expensive, though would make putting it together really easy.

    Shipping is the killer, I can get cheap out of China, quadruples in price with shipping and I buy 25x25 SHS for under 6 bucks for 6.5m , I'll stay in steel as much as I adore the Ali profile sims.

    I was going to wait with purchasing all controls until i was done with the frame, but think i need to at least get the pedals to figure out correct placement, distance, etc. I think I'll go with fanatec. Tthere is CSR elite, CSR elite inverted, and clubsport. I was thinking CSR elite, any recommendations? Also, would I be able to use them for flight sim, or do I need to buy separate control for that?

    I can only comment on what I have and that is the Clubsport pedals, which are awesome. The Clubsports are robust and have a great feel to them.They are hefty enough to significantly affect the COG of a full frame rig.

    I use separate pedals for flight.

    Thanks Noorbeast, naturally the most expensive ones :) Can't even order a wheel base from them at this time, "by invitation only". Anybody knows what's up with that. If V2 is being released wouldn't V1 still be available. Looking forward for more replies, anything other than Fanatec?

    I have the Warthog, Saitek Pro Flight pedals and Clubsport pedals and would recommend them all as great choices. I have the F1 and BMW Fanatec wheels, both are solid and great quality.

    My son prefers the Saitek combat pedals while my father also chose the Saitek Pro Flight pedals. They are plastic but do the job and I do like the tensioner. The pedals are the one thing that I may consider replacing at some stage.     @noorbeast, thank you for the reply. what am i giving up by not going with clubtsport wheel base and a separate wheel? is there a huge difference as compared to motorsport? i tried comparing the features but it is not very helpful

    I have not used the Forza Motorsport CSR Wheel and I consider anything less that a side by side comparison a bit inadequate. Certainly ruggedness, responsiveness and configurability are obvious differences, but there is always a cost/benefit needed as to your own circumstances and priorities.

    CSR is the wheel you linked, the CSW is the big brother to that, Which has now been replaced with the CSW V2.

    Got it. I guess the price reflects that... At this point doesn't look like either V1 or V2 is available. Reading the specs hard to figure out the differences between the two and whether or not it makes a huge difference for an average gamer. After all it ia about $500 more in price.

    The CSR is basically a cheaper Version, similar to say a G27 or a T300. Its Got a basic looking wheel, Simple display and doesn't have a Quick release for changing out wheel's. CSW is the full meal deal without spending 2k+ and even then your still not getting the fancy BMW or Porsche licensed wheel. Overall the CSW is a pretty awesome package with which ever rim you choose.
