the ramp is a question of milli-seconds: not noticeable by user but easier for motor current need.

    65rpm and 20Nm @12V would be nice!

My winches are about 23rpm and not too slow... I am using a 13cm lever which results in a satisfying speed. Next winches are loud(er) if the weight lies on the planetary gear. At least the winches have to be absorbed from the chassis of the rig, I used a stone as a platform and the result is acceptable. There is still some noise but as already mentioned where to find hq gear motors in Europe... @xytras did you see my video of my sim?

Mate no problem here with that. Everybody can see my videos and can form a view on it. :)

@Pit didn´t see your video yet and yes of course 12V winches instead of these AC types
@RacingMat looks like it is the max torque and the nominal is 2Nm :(

I am a bit confused about the speed now. bsft writes 48rpm (of which are just about 24 used when you drive the 24v motors at 12v) are too slow.
So what is a reasonable speed to achieve a "comfy" movement?

I didn´t have the idea using a lever but of course that could help a lot, however some Nm are lost then.
I got to see your videos @Pit (your setup is whoaaa btw but I don´t want to spend that much money ;-) )
You used some bicycle part there. What does the chain transition do ? Looks to me like the motors are connected to the big gears anyway?

@xytras given the questions you are asking are somewhat unrelated to this particular thread it would be worth your while to start your own build thread here, as that way you can gather all of the info and your own planning in one place: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/forums/diy-motion-simulator-projects.22/

Yes true, will do once I am some steps further. Didn ´t even mean to post here in this thread, it just happened in a follow up. Sorry.

BTW the most expensive parts are the projectors. Winches are chap, Arduino and MMs as well. PSUs are even more cheaper ;) The chain transition moves the potentiometer. How the winches work I explained you by PM.

@Pit I wished to see again your video ;) but "2550W 4DOF Seat Mover" link is invalid in your signature...

I managed to find out the video anyway but the game sound is too high to get an idea of winch noise...
Hence it's not about your rig: sorry, I must have mixed up with another winch simulator... Maybe Historiker's simulator?

@xytras , I already told you back in further threads what is a suitable RPM for motor speed and also gave you a reference to a suitable motor that is better than the SMOKA wipers. Dig back through and look for the info.

for a start yes, I started with wipers, but a motor nearly 3 times the rpm speed, I have not looked back since

    @bsft
I know and I appreciate the info, - the 150rpm ones... they are out of stock and they almost have no holding torque.
So let me reword it. What are the specs of the cheapest reasonable motor I can get ? ;)
At the end it also is a matter of the length of the lever and how much movement you want.
I have seen sims that do way too much movement.
Anyway, I don´t wanna spoil this thread with more like these questions. I just ordered two motors for about 110 USD now and let you know my experiences with these then.

Define holding torque...if you mean when its off, then thats aesthetics looks and nothing more. I use them and with power on they are just fine, maybe a little bit of slump when a player gets in and out, but under motion power , they are wild.
If you are that fussy, go for the 50:1 or 60:1 boxed motors then, they are near impossible to turn on the shaft with power off, let alone on.
You have seen sims yes, I have built 14 sims and tested many setups.
Not sure where you could find a reasonable priced motor.
As you ordered 2 motors already, then why ask?

I just bought them some minutes ago after I asked the questions.
Okay you build 14 sims and probably found the best fitting motors.
Problem is next -available- choice close to these are about 350 USD per
motor which means it is no choice for now because I wanto to stay far below a budget of $1000.

Don´t worry I keep the 150 to 180rpm in mind and for sure I will learn that the ones I just ordered
will probably be replaced one day but for my first steps they will most likely do and that is why I also
wanted to end these questions here for now.

The reason why I bought $55 motors now is the sum of answers and opinions
I got here asking that question. I didn´t order them before I asked the question.

So, thanks to you all for your opinions and suggestions.

I will take a video with game sound and without. IMO you are remembering the winches of @value1 I mean ;)

Sorry @RacingMat it is your thread but due to the high demand I have taken a video. For the best comparison I said three times or so "this is a human voice"...at the beginning of the video game AC with a enjoyable standard sound (not too loud, but loud enough), later again without sound and than with sound again, at the very least with a louder sound like I would do in an online race.

Thanks @Pit for this noise sampling video: that's informative.
Congrats, it's rather quiet, and heave effects looks wonderful!

    Hi to all,

When I pull the slider to -100 motor continue to turn and doesnt stop at a point. it is same at +100 too. How Can I fix my motors to 180 Degree ? Also when I connect the pots to motors it is same. it brake the pot and continue to turn. I never get a movement like this at the video.

I really need help so much about this. What can I do ?
