    Hello,

I'm trying to set up a 2-axis simulator. I have already set up the axes, and in 'output testing' the actuators move correctly. However when I patch LFS and run the game, the actuators seem to move randomly with no resemblance at all to the in-game pitch and roll. I have no idea what's wrong. Can you help me?

I'm running LFS 0.6H on Windows 8.1. A friend running Windows 7 had the same problem.

    Thanks

You really need to supply more information about what you have and have not done.

What actuators and control boards is your simulator using?

For troubleshooting purposes it helps if you post screenshots of all of your settings and a video of the movement you are observing.

Is the status showing as connected for the game?

Have you established base settings in the Tuning Center? http://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/set-base-tuning-motion-values-in-the-tuning-center.122/

I'm guessing that you want to be using sway and surge...

    Hello,

it seems there's a problem with game output. As you can see in the video below, the values seem to fluctuate wildly.

@zhangxiaobao, You really need to supply more information about what you have and have not done.
Screenshots of your setup or something...

OK, I actually uploaded two videos earlier, but then I found the game output to be the cause, so I didn't post them. Here they are:

    What I have done:
installed Simtools, set up interface and axis settings, patched LFS.

Please let me know if more information is needed.

    Thank you!

First of all, if we are building a 2dof sim, you probably want to use Sway and Surge.
Next, may I see the max min file for LFS please?

Also, make sure the axis assignment are the same when you select lfs on the axis assignment page.

I already asked if you had established base settings for the Tuning Center and gave the link on how to do so, but you have not confirmed if you have done so.

Can you please verify and include screenshots for the Tuning Center.

Thank you very much for your help and patience!

    To @yobuddy:
Yes, but I'm going to build a 6DOF. This setup is just for testing whether the software would work.
Yes, they are the same when I select LFS.

    To @yobuddy and @noorbeast:
Yes, I have done that, and I found that the captured min/max value is actually smaller than the default, so I don't think that's the problem.
    Here is a screenshot:
    tuningcenter.jpg
And I suppose the 'min/max file' is the same thing as this?

Also, I found that the inputs all go to zero when I select exterior views.
    What might be the problem?

    Thank you again.

LFS only outputs data when your in the car, so thats just how the game works.
The data fluctuates because the car is started, Its just extremely small numbers.
May I see you axis assignments for LFS, screenshot?

I'm sorry, but it's not "small" fluctuations. The output value goes from 0 to 10000000 then to 0. Sometimes it shows "not a number".

The smaller the min/max the stronger and more sensitive the output.

Did you try sway and surge? like @yobuddy suggested?
    What actually are the actuators?

So, guys, today as I was playing with OutSim and trying to debug this issue, I found a strange thing. For certain values of heading, pitch, roll or other inputs, a wrong value is shown in "Game Data" in "Tuning Center".

I have absolutely no idea why would this happen. If you're interested here's the script I used to debug (Python 3.4):
    http://pastebin.com/10VNhVwT

If I run this while running LFS, I expect to see a yaw of 4.27 in "Tuning center", while it shows 3.35966658277133E-37.
    test.jpg

    Can you replicate this behavior?

    Thank you.

    Hi @zhangxiaobao
You are aware that outsim outputs the values in world coordinates while these are output in local coordinates in SimTools?
Before comparing the OutSim output, you must do this mathematical transformation.
Otherwise I expect the values to be different (OutSim vs SimTools)!

Yes I'm aware of that. It seems that OutSim outputs positions, velocities and accelerations in world coordinates, while pitch, roll and heading is local. I have also done the transformation from radian to degree. For some values that I input, the value shown in Tuning center is the same as printed, while for some it's very different(shows a very small or very large number). I found this out by first using random numbers.

Yes, I tried that, and it's still not working.
I don't really know what the actuators are. My friend built and gave them to me. I'm rather illiterate about hardware. They are used only for testing. Quite small, as you can see. But they use the SCN5 interface.

    • Did you try to use the game to other plug-ins? I also use lfs plug-ins, and as your case. Then I try to download and use the RBR plugin normal output.
