    G'day,

I have been working on my new desk racer for about a month. As said in my intro post a little while ago, I'm not good at step by steps. I took a few pics along the way, but looking back at them, there are a lot I should've taken but didn't. I will post a couple completed shots in the next post as I have to do it from my phone.

I built a compact desk racer based on @bsft design.

I used JRK's, & 25:1 motors from motion dynamics. Originally I planned to use HP Server PSU's, but the two I bought spat the chewy when I plugged them in, or maybe before. I bought 2 new LED power supplies instead.

I was happy with the way the build went, I got a mate to help and I think we did alright. We definitely learnt a few things along the way.

Since I set it up I have struggled with silly issues, that @noorbeast has gone above and beyond the call of duty to assist me with. I really appreciate the support he has given and cannot speak highly enough of. Thanks.

I do still have an issue though talking to games. Again @noorbeast has put up with me, trying to work it out, but I just don't know what is happening. So I thought to give a him rest I will post here.

Problem is I cant get any movement in Pcars or iRacing. The only game I can get movement out of is Dirt Rally, but it is very jolty and dirty movement and no way possible to set anything up.
I have set them up in jrk config correctly and they play nicely there and in game engine I can do an output test and they move correctly, but when I start a game I get nothing or very bad movement. In Pcars, I have selected yes to the shared memory. Iracing is my sim of choice, so that would be the one I would prefer to get going first if possible and I think I could set movement up better in that game, than I have been trying to do on Dirt Rally, where all the tracks are so tight. Once I have it right for iRacing I will progress.

Thanks for reading, sorry about the novel. I will post pics below and I'm keen to answer any questions about the build or that can help my problem.

    Cheers,
    Nick

Please post pictures of your settings and a video of the movement, which will help diagnose what is going on.

Can I clarify if you have reduced the lever arm movement from what I understood was 180 degrees and have you since done a base setting in the Tuning Center with Dirt?

You'll have to set the values in the tuning center to lower values on iracing and Pcars. I can't give you details at the moment as in on my phone but there is a tutorial on how to use the tuning center. I had the exact same issues until I ran the tuning center to capture the game data. By default the values are much larger than what these games put out. For example if iracing setup in the tuning center is +5, -5 on surge iracing uses small values such as -1.5 and +1.5. So while it does have movement it is very small. So if you change the value in tuning center to -1.5 and +1.5 you get maximum range. It doesn't really make much sense at the moment but once you start using the tuning center you'll figure it out really quickly.

Yes , I take it you put the plugins in, and patched the games as well through game manager.
Otherwise, as said above , it may be a tuning centre issue. Try fiddling with numbers

Cheers @Alexey & @bsft . I managed to get motion in iRacing, the level in profile editor was at 21% for axis 1 & 2.
Have had a successful night fiddling with settings to set up the game. However it would seem my left hall effect, axis 2 has gone digital on me. I have the graph open while driving and it is on off, etc instead of following the target smoothly as the other one does.

Do I need a new pot?

One thing I have noticed is that you must be the 3rd person with JRKS to be running the same PID
    IS this coincidence?
    Not sure
you may need to bring the D number up some more in increments of 0.1 to see if it tightens up the target line. Try that first before you go and buy a new pot. Dont worry if you end up with a D number over 1.0 .
P seems ok at this stage.

No not a coincidence @bsft, it was very high initially and getting jittery movement so I suggested putting it down to a known value for those motors, as a sensible starting place, until the other issues are resolved.

Thanks @bsft for your response. As @noorbeast said I did have D at .7 which I got to by following your setup guide and feeling when it was stopping best, but then when I was having issues @noorbeast advised I reduce it to establish what issues I was having.
I had noticed on the graph that pot was giving a fuzzy line and now as you can see above is straight on off functionality. I have ordered a new pot and also bought some shielded cable to replace to the pots.
I will change the cable tonight and try changing the D settings on both sides.
I am thinking that if this pot was playing up it could have a lot to do with the erratic i was feeling.

    Thanks guys as always.

Pots do play up, but I have overcome fussy pots with PID , also try increasing feedback dead zone up from 0 to 1,2,3,4,5 , something like that.

    Thanks @bsft.

I will change over cable first tonight, then play with all the settings one at a time as you have suggested. It wont hurt to have a spare if I can get this one working.

I tend to find I have to lower most tuning center numbers by quite a large margin in most games to get the sort of movement im after. Some games may find pitch of 28 for instance when capturing and I have to lower it to 5 or 6 even. But each person is different on the sort of motion they are after so it will change for each individual.
