    Hi all

Have been thinking alot and was trying to solve the 2dof seat moving problem or make it better.
It always crops up where if you want forces you use that, but then is a problem regarding the arms bending ect...
Has anyone tried using for arguements sake another scn5 for wheel and pedal movement on a seperate frame on sliders so if programmed you can move the seat to follow certain movement with the seat then you dont need a full plateform mover.
Say use a roller type bearing in the guide rails.
Ive found an old pic i did along time ago of what i was thinking so thought i would bring this up to see if it has been done or tried out or even possible.
Obviously it only moves the wheel/pedal at the start of it going wrong with arm bending or what it needs to stop the exageration.
I also thought it could be done with a motor and pot under the seat as the varible control to tell the motor what to do thats linked to a rack and pinion system.

Just thought i would share my thinking :)

Yes a number of people have done surge in slightly different ways. @SeatTime, @Boomslangnz and @Pit are just some members that come to mind.

    Did it work ?
See i think if you take your seat belt off in a car you will move the same as in a moving seat as just because the seat move does not mean it is not the same in a real car.
I See the seat is the car and its simulating the actual car weight transfer movements , so your sat in a car but the car is the seat which moves the same so i think that bit is right, but as soon as you go platform you lose the effect and it becomes just that a moving platform no forces unless you go big system to get those forces.
now i think if you can get the seat to move on a separate system to the wheel but not so wild but the wheel moves to the right points to limit the faults would it still feel the forces and bring back into play a real car sensation as your still keeping within the guides of your the car not the seat.
If you get what im trying to say.
Just curious if anyone can show things that they have done similar as i would prob never find it with the amount of treads over the years.

I drive a reva gwiz everyday and you lean like big time in that thing round corners so i feel my self moving around just like you would sat iun a 2dof ! tbh
only feeling i dont get is force from acceleration !lol
And the only thing i can do different to a seat moving is use my arms to keep me from bending and thats where the main issues is your pushing a chair back thats moving forward so can not be done your arms have to bend.
But imagine if not moving your arm at that point you can push back as the distance does not change and you have that force of feeling i wonder if it would trigger ya brain.
Could i be thinking in the right direction do you think.

I just wonderd why i have not seen anything, its always the platform.
Altho i would love to try just a gseat and moving platfrom, the simexperience i had gone in was like if it could move it did.

I can not find anymore pictures tbh been looking for things when i was dreaming of making a motioN sim.
but as i see it if you want forces for braking or conering you can not get them from a pivot unless force is almost attached to the body, to which along tim ago i was watching a cutting machine and thought boy that mives fast in a forward motion that has to be the only way to get a real feeling of force without attaching to effectibly your shoulder and moving your body.
so the whole thing would have to move fast forward fast backwards and the same for all directions.
can that be done still like a cnc machine cuts ?
or would that not work and im better off looking into the wheel moving.
forces are made from movement = you have to move the whole thing not pivot to get correct force ?? yes no ? unless the body is being pushed about seperate, ie the moving wheel system aswell.
this was 2 idea i had once watch som machine work as in a 3d printer type thing can it be moved in the right ways fast enough to not need large spaces if either of the ways i was thinking, its got to have been done and proved as i think its an obvious thing im asking but is there sucess to it is why i askd this qestion.
obviously im quite new to this and have never seen one and been wondering why all the sims from manufactures are based the same see.
Something either dont work or the big companys are stupid if it does work.
After all its about simulation and feeling but i feel the big companies have not followed the very word of it as i dont find a pivot platform that imersive with forces or ii could have just had a bad run of goes on them and its just me.

Thanks for the links i will check them out.

    cheers keith

Mine works great on linear rails, I really enjoy the surge effect.
