I have commented to him on youtube that his surge is the wrong way round and he is pretty sure it isnt. Have a look at 1:40 on this video and you tell me cause I think im going crazy cause it goes all the way back instead of forwards.

    Can someone tell me ??

Looks right to me...hit the brakes the platform slides back and the nose goes down. That is an impressive rig he has.

You fall forward when you decelerate. In his case he is simulating that by having the platform slide backward. At 1:40 he is decelerating. That is the way it looks to me anyway.

But how can you go backwards when you brake ?? The inertia pushes you forwards that's why you end up through the front windshield if you not wearing a seatbelt when you crash, not the back window

It is the attempt to simulate inertia. Your body, in a sim, is not really moving. So to get your body to shift forward the platform as to move backward.

Yes I get that but the platform has to move you forward and stop not backwards and stop because that just slams you back into your seat, platform moves forwards fast and stops throws you outta your seat forwards not backwards.

Ok forget the braking what about the acceleration lol when he accelerates the rig moves forwards ? Mine is all the opposite and everyone with a surge table goes back when accelerating forward when braking.

Sorry @SilentChill but – as strange as it looks from outside – @Historiker is right :thumbs
Give it a try and reverse your settings. Drive a few times the north and revert the settings again. Then do your judgements.
At the end it has to feel right for you!

So everyone has their surge tables the wrong way round ? if i put my surge opposite way it would feel horrid. I get pushed back in my seat when accelerate and pushed forward when I brake. His pitch is correct but the surge is deffo wrong way round .................... I DEMAND A RECOUNT !!! :grin

@SilentChill i also think that it looks ok in the video ... one thing that should be mentioned is that while seat is moving backwards it's also rotating forward (pitch) and when seat is rotated this way it also gives you impression of braking - but this time gravity does the work. Without that it would give the right impression while seat is moving backwards, after that you would be pushed to the back as you said... :)

Like I say what about the acceleration ??? You don't get pushed forwards when you accelerate.

I'm comparing it to my rig and its the total opposite. I have had it the wrong way round when first setting a game up as he has and it feels really bad. I don't know but if I get fired off the start of a rollercoaster I wanna be pushed back into my seat not pushed forwards.

In all his videos he is pushed forwards when accelerating its all wrong . Change gear you get a quick throw forwards then pushed back again, he doesn't its opposite way round.

I cant believe im the only one, i must be going crazy :D

@SilentChill Well, think about it this way then - when you accelerate in a real car you get pushed forward by the seat just as the guy in the video gets pushed forward... ;)
Maybe i'm wrong, but my assumption is that your rig feels right because of correct pitch motion, but i suspect that feeling of braking and accelerating isn't immediate as it should be which is caused by wrong surge motion ... but as @value1 said, try it and go with one that suits you better... :)

No you dont get pushed forward, you ever tried to lean forward when your taking off in an airplane ??? You get pushed back in your seat thats acceleration gforces pushing you back.

I'm not right about many things but i know from when I had my Impreza i got thrown back into my seat on acceleration. Its the total opposite way here, its either one way or the other you cant get the same feeling going both ways or else what would be the point.

If you watch my videos its pretty instant whats going on, on my rig . Like i say about surge tables whats the correct way they should be moving for braking and accelerating ?

the pushing forward is actually pushing your body back into the seat and the backwards movement is pushing you out of your seat ;)

Why didnt one of you just tell me that ................................................... i'll get my coat :D
