I am really stupid when it comes to circuit boards. I have a Fanatec universal hub. There is 4 cables from the main board to a smaller one that 3 buttons is attached on the board. I want to skip that little board and use other buttons direct to the main board. I guess I would easier to understand if it was just 3 cables. Hard for me to explain. Anyone changed buttons on a Fanatec hub or anyone who can help, explain.

You have red wrong. Please confirm.

Black is the common ground, I agree with Kirk; red is incorrect in that diagram. Might be deceiving as the trace probably looks like it ends at the red wire terminal. Each button has a 5v and ground contact.

Cam you explain in more detail what you want to accomplish?

Anyway, the "red" switch, one of the sides has to be connected to black as well, probably the side closest to the wires.
The way it works is each switch (red, white, green), when closed, closes a connection to black. On the main board where this cable would attach to, you will probably find three resistors connecting to positive, making these switches active low (when pressed, they read zero, released read VCC).
That is the reason you couldn't have all the sides of the red switch connected to red. It would have no effect if the switch was pressed or not. So, one side, probably the side closest to the wires, has to be black.

When I look very closely at that little board it looks like the red are like that.
What I want is to remove that little board with the buttons and use real switchbuttons you have in a car. Want to attach the new buttons on these 4 cables which goes into the main board

With the wheel power up, and the wire plugged into the board test which contacts have 5v. I would bet that the black does not. You can verify this by putting the negative lead on the black and touching the red lead to each of the others. Make sure of course that you have the multi-meter set to DC voltage :) or the readings will look funny or have none at all.

Then find a plug like the one that is used and wire it for your new buttons. I would not use the old button array or wire just in case you eventually want to put it back in place.

By the way, this is not meant to argue with Kirk, but agrees completely with his assessment.

I guess your missing black connection goes like this ... behind the cables so it may be hard to see ... check for continuity by a multimeter if possible ...
    IMG_1387.JPG
    IMG_1386.JPG

and please don't be confused so much cause when connecting buttons there should be +1 cable for common connecting them all ...
so the three colored cables are for buttons " disable any if needed" + the black for all button grounding .

That is correct. It is like the red line you added! So now can I skip that little board and connect like this?
