Hello everyone, my name's Paul and I live in Manchester UK. I'm looking to learn more about motion simulation and this seems like a pretty good place to start. Currently use a projector racing set-up with shakers for tactile feedback but I figure it's now time to be a mover as well.

Hello @Cantsitstill and welcome, have a dig through the threads and see if any designs take your fancy. Also theres a variety of control board and motor options as well.
    Cheers, David.

    Welcome @JFEXP.

Any 360 degree simulator is a complex and costly project, so it would pay to build a working model as was done here: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/prototype-360°-full-rotation-motion-simulator.113/

If you are using Xsim then you are on the wrong forum, as here we use SimTools: http://www.xsimulator.net/simtools-motion-simulator-software/

If you are using SimTools then please create your own project thread here: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/forums/diy-motion-simulator-projects.22/

Feel free to ask questions, the very active members here give freely of both their time and expertise.

    Good luck with your project.

Another new member here! I'm planning on starting a DIY build very soon, and this has been a fantastic source of information already. I've been poking around the forums for a few days to get some general ideas. I'm a mechanical and electronic engineer, but a motion simulator still will be a pretty major project for me. I'll start a build thread soon as I get rolling on the design.

You will need to clarify what you mean by 3DOF, as it could be with a heave axis or traction loss axis. Once we know which it is easy to point out existing examples for you.

A good way to clarify what you may like to build is to have a look at existing member builds for ideas and inspiration: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/forums/diy-motion-simulator-projects.22/

Hey everyone, just wanted to introduce myself here. I just recently got into sim racing a few months back and threw together a stationary rig with scrap wood I had lying around. I mostly play DiRT: Rally and a few other racing sims, but I'm interested in flight and space sims as well. The projects I've seen of members on here are truly inspiring and I have no doubt before long I'll have my own rig to show off, though I'm sure I'll need a bit of help along the way.
