In some games when you finish a race the motion continues. Is there a way to program the motion to stop when you finish a race?

As a follow on question, does SimTools put the simulator back into a neutral position when the game ends (assuming motion stops eventually per @Hobbs77 question)? I'm hoping my sim will handle as much as +/- 40 degrees of movement, which would be ugly if it doesn't go back to zero each time. What happens to the motion if you bail out of a race or flight in the middle?

Copy your Start Up Command to your Shut Down command. Pending the game will depend what the rig will do when your IN and Out of the Menu's and Tracks. Once the Connection from Simtools and the game has been lost or closed, the Jrk or what ever your using should take over and go back to your "default" setting.

Thats because depending on the game and plugin, it still provides data after a race ends, so you still get motion.

To answer your original question for this thread, its no you can't. It has been reported that you will be able to in the next version of simtools though, if or when its released to the diy community.

ps Assetto Corsa is the the only game out of about 15 I use where the simtools plugin does stop after a race.

Edit:It was reported there will be a button in the next simtools to turn on/off motion, not a way to program it to do it. But maybe a game activated motion trigger has been added into simtools in the next version too. It must be top secret atm though because nothing much is being shared about it right now.

Not an elegant solution, but my plan is to put a motion on/off (basically an emergency stop) switch on my sim connected to the power supply enable pins. It looks like there is no enable/disable input on the JRK's.

Having not gotten that far yet, I'm curious what kind of motion happens after the race ends. Is the car still moving, and hence the motion continues? Or are you talking about some random movement while sitting on a menu screen?

You may find @Archie's JRK reset switch of interest: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/jrk-reset-switch.57/

It's just all the extra motion makes it hard to control the mouse at the end of session. Plus I only want motion when I'm driving. Don't like it with replays either. I like the idea at the very least to be able to program the keyboard to start & stop the motion output.

    Thanks for all replies!

My only concern with putting in a kill switch is having to reboot everything to get it working again. Maybe someone who's got a kill switch for their rig could shed some insight on this. Thanks in advance!

Great resource from @Archie. Thanks @noorbeast for pointing that out. The reset pin on the JRK isn't well documented in the Pololu information, so it is nice to know that does something helpful with SimTools.

Another option instead of powering everything down or resetting the JRK is to put a high current relay or switch between your motor drives (JRK, MM, etc) and the motors themselves. That is probably better both for shutting down quickly in an emergency, and also just casually turning on/off motion without resetting or rebooting anything.

Even better for a non-emergency disable motion is if you are using an Arduino is simply have a switch going to an input on the Arduino that puts the motors to the neutral position and leaves them there.

Not in Dirt Rally, After some of the Forest stages....OH me OH my..... Kill Switch is MANDATORY for Dirt Rally.

My PSU Turn on lead to the Kill switch DOES NOT require any rebooting what so ever. Need to hit the switch, Go for it. The second you give power back to the JRK's they are Live again.

I never included a kill switch in my rig of about 7 yrs now. But it maybe something to consider now that I have a need for it. Thanks Nick

neither have I, no "oh f...k"switch. Mind you, Im a nut case

EDIT, at end of Race07 multiplayer, the motion keeps going in AI mode, so yes its a bit hard to reach the mouser.
But apart form having a kill switch, really, get over it.

I only want motion when I'm driving so if there's way to fix or eliminate it then that's what I'm interested in.

Then best way would be either do this:
or write a PC program that will act as a proxy between simtools and your controller with a start/stop method, like using a command button to do it.

Lame comment at the end imo.......And Until you've experienced FULL traction loss Side to side with INSANE twitching of the Telem data at the end of Dirt Rally. You really dont know what Im referring to. Its not AI mode at ALL, But rather a Slo mo situation with Super SUPER sketchy data that doesn't correlate to anything the cars doing in game. Doesn't happen on All stages, but a few that ive tried it did.
