    Hi there !

I am new to this forum and this kind of hobby but since i started searching for more information on this website, things got musch clearer and much more achievable than i thought :D.

I work with embedded systems and am planning to do a 2DOF, as what i see here i have a question that is hard to get response.

My question is , which properties should i search when i am looking on wiper motors? What i mean is, which kind of qualities the wiper motor needs to have to be able to mount a 2DOF ? i can already say i am looking at 12v wiper motors but i dont know how to tell which one is bettter, how much torque it needs, how much rpm it needs to get a decent response, etc... If someone could help me on this question it would be a great help !

    Regards.

Hi, I'm Max, a mechanics student from Germany.
Me and a few other students a building a 3DOF sim for university as a project.
I hope I'll get some informations with the help of your community to build a great sim!
    Best wishes

    Welcome @katsuma.

You have come to the right place, there is a really active community here who freely give of their time and expertise.

You will find plenty to get you started in the FAQs, from design software, dimension of sims, to PSUs, pots, motors, JRKs, Arduinos and Motor Monsters and more: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/

There is plenty to get you started in the Design section, including a guide to the speed needed for good motion and calculating speed: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/design-considerations-resources.24/category

Similarly in the Build section there are things that are wiper specific, such as the need for ground isolation: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/wiper-motor-mandatory-ground-isolation.25/

If something sounds odd then look it up in the glossary: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/glossary-of-acronyms-and-names.66/

With wipers you av less power than say big wormgear motors,so consider designs that have a lot of leverage, like shoulder mount or foot mount designs.

When you are ready please start your own project thread here: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/forums/diy-motion-simulator-projects.22/

    Good luck with your project.

    Hi All,

Already Ruuning Rc car simulation since few month with pretty good configuration (3 x 27" screens T300RS PLAyseat..) and running mainly project cars and F1 2015 as weel as Dirt 2.
Now it's time to move on and work on a 2DOF motion sim.
My plan is to use Wiper motors + Arduino & Sabertooth 2x32.. All material already at home..just need to start working on it :)

I have built a sim before but it had no motion, Just 6 bass shakers using simvibe. It was also a very basic setup.
G27 Wheel, shifter and pedals. Also three display screens. (22") Im really just an old kid, my excuse to build it was, ITS FOR THE GRAND KIDS!

    Hi

im looking to do a seatbelt tensioner with a single linear actuator simulating braking force. Im using a JRK and a 5N feedback actuator capable of 300mm/s. It will be tensioning a 4 point harness. Not sure if anyone has attempted this before? Hopefully I can get it going and it works as expected

Interesting idea @M8R. As this is the welcome thread it would be best to re-post it here and have members throw their thoughts in: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/forums/diy-motion-simulator-building-q-a-faq.31/

A more common approach is to use the movement of the sim itself and have springs as the rear harness mount, like @Avenga76's rig here: http://www.xsimulator.net/community...er-gs-4-simvibe-gauges.5596/page-6#post-68260

Hello everyone. I'm new here. I'm looking at building a motion platform and just gaining as much information before the start of the build. Probably going to start next week and it's going to be with 2 wiper motors. I saw some nice rigs on this site, but the biggest problem for me is going to be "electronics". :) sorry for bad English thou.

    Welcome @dedamare.

You will find plenty to get you started in the FAQs, from design software, dimension of sims, to PSUs, pots, motors, JRKs, Arduinos and Motor Monsters and more: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/

You can go down either the JRK path or Arduino/Motor Monster electronics path, both have their own sections on the FAQs. JRKs cost more but are easier to set up and offer refined motion control, Arduinos are cheaper and more flexible but take a bit more to wire and configure.

If something sounds odd then look it up in the glossary: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/glossary-of-acronyms-and-names.66/

When you are ready please start your own project thread here: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/forums/diy-motion-simulator-projects.22/

Wipers are somewhat limited in both power and speed, so consider a shoulder mount seat shaker design, as it has a lot of inherent leverage.

    Good luck with your project.
