    G'day everyone,
    My name is Andy and from Melbourne, Australia.
    I am a plumber with some of my hobbies electronics and tinkering/repairing/destructive investigation of anything mechanical.

    I recently bought a couple of motors off ebay and after going to pick them up I literally came home with a barrow load of motors, yes he had a wheelbarrow full of these motors ~60.
    He told me that they were removed from the MCG (Melb cricket ground) moving advertising banners that were on the fence and replaced with LED panels.

    I came to this site when I was searching for "upgrading my G25 motors" although it wasn't my first time i visited the site and thought making a motion sim wouldn't be a bad idea, so I registered and have been reading for a couple of weeks now before posting today.

    I do have some questions and would like to discuss a few topics aswell.
    You will have to excuse the slow replies as I'm a pretty damm slow typer and a virtual keyboard doesn't help.
    Cheers for now, I will post to appropiate forum later.

    Hello!
    in 2008 i found this site and wanted to build my own 2dof... however as a student i lacket the time and most importantly the money ;-)
    A few weeks ago i stumbled across my old whiper motors i salvaged for my build and i wanted to finish what i started.
    Luckely i found a second hand playseat and now i'm waiting for the MM to arrive so i can start building ;-)

    Hi,

    My name is Fern and I already built 3 sims.

    First one used 4 wiper motors with softpot, Arduino mega and Sabertooth. Air suspended seat (not actuated), it still runs very well. But it was a complex build.

    Tried to make something simpler with the second one but it was a fail because of wrong components used : 24v planetary metal gear motors (noisy and sticky).

    Third one uses 4 small industrial 24v DC motors (wiper motor size and no need to isolated the ground like most car wiper motors) with encoders and plastic reduction gears that are smooth and silent. Final rpm is 50 which can make a simulator quite brisk if you want to. Uses custom gas struts suspension and runs very good too. I use Pololu VNH5019 rated at 24v but need to limit the current because it exceeds their capacities.

    Replacing my computer, I decide to give a try to SimTools and I have a question :

    How do I use a single plugin to run 2 different games like NFS Shift and NFS Unleashed ? Do I simply make a copy with a different name ?

    Because of how the motion data is extracted each game needs its own plugin, though there is a generic joystick plugin that is not game specific but that will not give the same fidelity of motion as a game specific plugins.

    Need For Speed Plugin
    The plugin currently works with the following games:
    • Need for Speed Most Wanted (2005)
    • Need for Speed Shift (2009)
    • Need for Speed Shift 2: Unleashed (2011)
    • Need for Speed Most Wanted (2012)
    • Need for Speed Rivals (2013)
    How do I patch it for Shift and Shift 2
    AFAIK it can patch ONE directory only

    Hi all from Brisbane :)

    Firstly fantastic site, and it seems to have really helpful & friendly members (some others I've been browsing seem a little more.. hostile..?.)

    Anyway, after "perhaps" finding out that my Christmas present from my wife is a G29 and shifter set, I have impulsively decided that I'd like to build an "x" DOF sim...

    I have a little bit of experience with electronics and Arduino's, but not so much in the fabrication department. Luckily I do have access to a fair bit of workshop gear.

    I've managed to pick up an old Hyper Stimulator frame below, and hope to come up with a design suitable to hold it and 3 monitors, without breaking the bank too much or decreasing the wife approval factor beyond the point of no return.

    Would love some suggestions or ideas if anyone has a spare minute or two free.

    Personally I think your Hyper sim lends itself to being converted to a foot mount design, but there are plenty of other options depending on what you have in mind.

    Hi everybody

    I've been introduced to this amazing community by Avenger 76 who also donated 240 coins for me tom download some profiles for my GS-4 .

    I have owned a stage 3 Simxperience since 2013 and love the work that the guys at simxperience do. I have added a GS-4, simvibe and the AF. I really enjoy SC4 however I want to enjoy more flight sims then the only supported X-Plane. I made up some retractable mounts for my Warthog controllers to fly with. I also added a collective for flying helicopters.

    Avenger 76 guided me through setting up the GS-4 for DSC which is great, Thanks again Richard.

    I found this tutorial by nclabs on how to set up the snc5 actuators, however its not working? What am i doing wrong?

    SCN5 configuration.
    • Click on Interface Settings, Interface1, Output Type and select SCN.
    • Under ComPort, select one of the COM ports connected to you SCN5 (if you don't know it, check the Control Panel on Windows, under the COM Port section).
    • Under Packet Rate select 10 ms.
    • Under Assignment Axis, select Axis 1.
    • With the Speed bar you can adjust the speed of the actuator, select a temporary value of 10.000 (value that you can increase after some testing).
    • With the Acceleration bar you can adjust the acceleration of the actuator, select a temporary value of 500 (same thing here, you can increase it after).
    • Now do the same thing with the Interface2, using the other COM port, and selecting Axis 2 under Assigned Axis (important!).
    • Last thing. Click on Axis Assignment, Axis Limiting and, to any axis connected with a SCN actuator, select a value of 90%. This is very important to preserve your actuator in the long term. Not doing this can lead to mechanical damage.

    Also will any of this stop the actuators from responding to SC4?
