    Hi

First time that i'm get into motion simulator, in electronics, in car physics (I never driven a car before), and everything related to. I've a got A LOT of questions regarding to this, so I hope any help.

    1. I wanna buy a H Shield. I saw the Monster Moto Shield for Arduino in DX, and it's more cheaper that in SparkFun, but it worth buying in quality terms? I don't wanna get a fried Arduino after turn it on.

    2. I wanna make a motion sim that can move a platform like the the sim made of wood by @mcxsim, or the chair, wheels and pedals like the sim made by @noorbeast. Any kind of wiper motor should do the job there? What should I get in consideration when I buy one???

    3. I'm trying to get the concept of Volts, Amp and Current. When I'm going to make the first prototype with wiper motors I wanna work in the correct way. Any simple and well made explication for a newbie in electronics????

The mechanical part i'll skip for now because i'm making a prototype with RC Motors, and works very well, but I need a structure. Anyway, any help will be very apreciated.

    Thanks!

    Hi,

    1. I don't think that will be a problem, usually faulty moto monster doesn't work it's rare to find one shortcuited. By the way there's a guide about where to buy it.
    2. You should look for a high power motor (to provide enough torque) and a proper RPM (rotation speed).
    3. ??? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ohm's_law ??

    Hola,

    3. ??? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ohm's_law ??

    Cheers / Saludos

It would be a good idea to spend some time looking through the FAQs, particularly the Sections on Arduinos and MMs:

    http://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/arduino.6/category

    http://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/motor-driver-for-arduino-compatible-controller.11/category

Wiper motors are not really suitable for a compact simulator like mine, you really need something that is faster and has greater torque. Wiper motors are better suited to a foot or shoulder mount simulator design.

If you plan on using wiper motors keep in mind that most require ground isolation: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/wiper-motor-mandatory-ground-isolation.25/

If you are unsure you can first build a working model that can work with SimTools: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/build-a-working-model-to-test-your-design-ideas.216/

@noorbeast For now I can consider a shoulder mount sim, just for start, but if I may upgrade my sim, what should I need to change en my sim???? Also, i was making a model for the RC motors, but i was figured out how I can make a pivot for the model, for example, a stick, a spring, etc..... And I'm going to read the links provided, thanks!

@mcxsim Let's take the consideration that IDK nothing about motors, and here in Chile it's very common that any vendor can tell me one thing but the real product is another thing. Now i've bought the monster moto at DX and now i'll wait, but for now, what kind of motor should i need?? Reading the specs, any 12V motor up to 30A should work??? Any other consideration???

A shoulder mount seat shaker design would be the best choice for wiper motors.

If you have a sturdy design and use two good PSUs at the start then in future the main thing to upgrade would be the motors/gearboxes.

@noorbeast I'll keep in mind that. For now I'm still planning my scale model (cabinet, universal joint, motion structure) and trying to build another things, like a H Shifter and pedals (I have DFGT wheel, for now I can't affort a G27)

Hey o. I was in your boat A year or to ago. Not knowing much of anything and had a sim built with the help of the great names , Racingmat, eaorobbie, BlassingH, Historiker, Finished in only 2 mouths. I had lots of problems but alway more help.
    good luck.

You can find the build here.

In the last one it will tell you What I used But I would Strongly suggest buying two aof eveything so you don't lose focus if something breaks.

Don't waist time and energy one a modle. It only cost more in the long run. As a pivit I alway use cv shaft from the scarp yard. They are stonge cheap and quite.

IMO if you are going to take the time to build a working model, make sure it mimics the required final design. Ie. If your final design will use DC motors and external pots make sure your model has motors with external pots (not servos). That way the correct software and hardware can be exercised and an understanding gained on how the hardware/software works and how to interface it all with SimTools before money is expended on the full size system.

@SeatTime The problem is that i'm new in the world of motion sim. The only thing that I have is an Arduino and two servomotors. Also i'm programmer but with a little knowledge about electronics, but not in mechanics. Keep in mind that i'm still looking for models and trying to replicate in a scale prototype. I've saw the DIY tutorial in this site, but maybe i'm thinking in big when I need to make it simple.

Like i've said, i'm still planning the scale prototype, ever i don't have the material (mini universal joint for example), but for now i can play with formulas to get the best DC motor that I don't know anything about that.
