Thanks so much for that @DocLove, I have linked your 6DOF model to the SkecthUp FAQ and if you do update it I will relink it then: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/how-to-animate-sketchup-3d-model-with-simtools.209/

It is a great start for others to have a play with!

Nice work:thumbs , but don't spend too much time re-inventing the wheel in sketchUp :). The real work in building a 6DOF is yet to come.

So I've decided that I will use AC motors, Gearboxes, and VFD's for my Stewart Platform. It seems like there's a formula for picking parts based on platform wight but I can't find any info on it. Any help would be much appreciated.

Meanwhile I've been tweaking the design to get better movement. Something doesn't look right to me though. Any thoughts?

I think it would help if the model was turned around so you are viewing its movements from the back going in the same direction as the car.

It seems to me that sway may be inverted.

Do you have yaw enabled? Turn it off if you do.

Thanks guys turned the yaw off and inverted the sway at lunchtime, everything seems much smoother now. I'll try to get another video up of the result after work :)

Also make sure that you lean outward with curves not inward like a motorcycle ...

Here's the video of my platform with the changed settings, as well as my Axis Assignments in SimTools. I think it looks like it's rolling the wrong way because the track isn't flat.

With that many servos, it's hard not to recommend Adafruit's 16 channel servo shield, or any of the clones.
    http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Free...erface-for-Arduino-Raspberry/32551764422.html
($3.28 w/ free shipping on AliExpress)

    https://www.adafruit.com/products/1411
($17.50 from Adafruit, shipping is extra, but it's the genuine thing).

They are easy to connect up and much easier to code for, plus it's easier to configure a secondary power source to avoid brown-out on your Arduino.

Anyway, when using I2C to control the servos, you basically just set the desired positions, no need to babysit the servos, and no need for jumper wires, the headers are all setup for attaching servos directly.
