I'm actually amazed how much they improved it with their new software update for Leap Motion. I didn't think we would be pressing buttons with our hands in VR this generation, but since it works so well I guess it's going to happen this generation. Here's a video of the improvement. and one more

This thing can probably be had for $35 or so. Adding hand tracking to replace the stiff offset animations is going to be worth it for racing and flight sims. Really it's just great news for sim fans.

Also Oculus has a launch preview event in March 13-15 so we will finally see the actual launch line then.

Awesome!!! Orion is finally out. That is going to make the Leap Motion so much better.

Do you know what demo this is?

I have been asked to go to a local school and show off VR and the leap motion so I want thinking this would be the perfect kind of demo to show them.

I played around with the new Leap Motion Orion beta last night for hours in VR, it is an awesome improvement, very robust and accurate tracking!

Blocks, so simple but awesome at demonstrating how accurate and robust the tracking now is: https://developer.leapmotion.com/gallery/blocks

    AltSpaceVR: http://altvr.com/

I do hope FlyInside is upgraded to Orion very soon. AltSpace said it was an easy upgrade for them, with amazing tracking improvement.

I have noticed that the Leap Motion sensor gets pretty warm now, but that is no big deal.

If FlyInside gets updated to Orion then I expect that alone would be worth the cost of the Leap Motion Sensor.

Using the old Leap Motion runtime with FlyInside was pretty tedious, but I think with Orion you could accurately reach out and operate switches and other controls.

I really hope DCS and even some race car games consider adding Leap support now, as the two places using your hands really works is in social VR and VR cockpits.

The Orion test mode is actually overlaying the tracking graphics over your real arms, hands and fingers using the pass through camera, so you can see just how spot on it is.

Sounds good, done, pressed the button, The Unity plugin sold me.
Never going to get my game finished at this rate so much feature creep setting in!

Cool, I will give them a try tomorrow.

I will be in hog heaven when FlyInside gets upgraded.

My Leap has always got quite warm. I either turn off the tracking while not using it or I use my USB hub which has an on/off switch on each port

The Dk2 I bought has the leap support mounted on it. It means that previous user had it, right?
Since I don't have the original cable, but have it replaced by new hdmi+USB ones, how am I going to power the leap? through USB? or does it need an external power source?

The leap sensor has its own cable which connects to USB.

Also they say not to plug it in to the USB port on the rift itself due to power and bandwidth limitations, you need to run the USB back to the PC but the give you a little extension cable so it is about the same length as the rift cable.

I have cable tied the leap USB cable to the main rift cable to keep everything tidy

Could I connect my audio sound card to that USB port or a joystick? @Avenga76
