Hi, my name is Nelson, and I just started thinking about making a stewart platform motion sim.
Before going to the real thing, I am currently playing with a scale model with arduino and servos.
Once I'll understand all the aspects of the process, I'll start building something bigger, probably with the thanos electronics.

Thank you all for your future support :)

    Nelson.

Hello from Australia, I've always been a simulator enthusiast and am now in a position where I can become a simulator builder. I am starting with a 6dof which is bold but considering the sheer amount of resources just on this site alone, I think I should be OK.

I stumbled across this site after searching for code for my arduino which connects 5 hobby servo's and one electric motor, thanks to eaorobbie, you're a bit of a champion. Only just bought arduino yesterday and by the end of the night I had a 2dof system working with LFS using the information and resources from this site.

Struggling a little bit with expanding to 5dof but have only spent a small amount of time trying. I have no electronics or coding experience but it all seems to make sense. Thanks mates.

Gday also from this sunburnt country. Im in Sydney , where do you hail from?
Yes , plenty of info here for sure. Ive also code no idea when it comes to coding , maybe drop @eaorobbie a line. Hence Im building a lowly 2 DOF with JRKS

Eaorobbie has allowed a lowly, non coder with a bit of brain to successfully setup a 2 dof in one night. He's the man. I'm down south near the Gong.

Hi guys, like many others starting out I can say that the amount of information are both overwhelming and very impressive. As someone with very little knowledge in electronics, all this seems almost impossible. But I do plan starting a project soon. I'm more interested in a 6dof platform for both flight and sim racers. I've seen what silenchill has done so I can say that I have a good base to start with. I've reached out to GA-Dawg and received a step-by-step guide for his build.

    Welcome @Smalbiggie.

It can indeed seem daunting at the start and a 6DOF is an ambitious project, so spend plenty of time researching before you take a swan dive off the deep end.

You will find the FAQ section covers many detailed build related topics: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/

We have a glossary for all those acronyms we tend to use, which will help you decipher some descriptions:http://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/glossary-of-acronyms-and-names.66/

When you are ready please start your own project thread here: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/forums/diy-motion-simulator-projects.22/

Feel free to ask questions, the members here give freely of both their time and expertise.

Good luck with your 6DOF project.

    Hi,
My name is Lluís, I'm 25 years old and I'm from Barcelona. My intention is to build a motion simulator mainly for space flying games, and I'm planning to use it with a VR headset. I'm new to all this, so I will probably start with a simple 2dof. I'm so happy I found this community, and I hope to learn as much as I can from its members. Thanks!

    Hi everybody,
    Let me introduce myself :
I'm working on my own 3DoF sim and wanna test SimTools because the concept and the community seems to be really cool and dynamic.
I am french so for now I posted the WIP of my project on RacingFR forum but i will do the same here (when i'll get the rights) + full tutorial about making+hardware+software+setup for those who want to build a low cost 3DOF with yaw effect.
Currently I'm welding steel angles but i already bought all the hardware components to finish my sim. I would close my project about june.
Other than I am passionate about motorsport, especially endurance championship. My favourite race tracks are Bugatti, SPA, Laguna Seca, Nürburgring GP (I don't speak about Nordschleife).
I do regular trackdays with my Mazda MX5. In the real life I like the Circuit de Bresse, Les Ecuyers, la Ferté Gaucher. And I love auto mechanics.
You can find me in Project Cars and Assetto (joviperlapin).
    See you soon
    Jo

@Apollo'BAT the Simtools download includes a plugin for Live For Speed game. You can download the demo for the game free from their website.

    Hello dear forum

I am Ulrich from Austria in more detail Upper Austria

I'm a newcomer in simulator building
but I know a lot about mechanical and electrical problems like the rod system or a H-bridge.
The only problem is the programming in C of the Ardunio and the software setup.
    Therefore I ask for support

I am planning a 2 DOF motion seat for Dirt Rally

Hi Hinty, you might have a look at @RufusDufus SMC3 Arduino software and motor utility. Great for a single Arduino with up to three motors. @prilad and @RacingMat also have great arduino software that will work for 2DoF. No need to reinvent them our members are happy to share :)

For Dirt Rally you might also like to look into adding traction loss, it is excellent.

Please start a build thread with your ideas and plans. Look through the many build threads and question and answer threads. There is also a FAQ section with lots of great information.
