It may seem like really exciting news that FOVE is released a HMD with eye tracking @ $599, as the latter is definitely a key aspect to improving image quality while lowering computer requirements, using Foveated rendering: http://www.roadtovr.com/fove-0-begins-shipping-eye-tracking-headset-month/?platform=hootsuite

But the VR crowd is not overly impressed, largely because Oculus just snapped up the eye tracking specialists EyeTribe (I was a beta tester of their kit) and because FOVE has gone with its own tracking solution, with many doubting it will match the Vive or Rift tracking: https://www.reddit.com/r/oculus/comments/5m7dpx/fove_begins_shipping_599_eyetracking_headset_this/

Robust eye tracking is being worked on, with Oculus just snapping up EyeTribe, but the best guess so far is from Michael Abrash, chief Oculus scientist, who puts a 5 year timeline on eye tracking with foveated rendering, though smaller FOV.

    Time will tell.
