    Hi all,

I am new in here. But i was thinking about making a simulator for a year. With summer holiday, i ve enough time to do my researches. Then i ve found this forum (very sad for me that i am so late in here)

I am thinking of building whole things for simulator. A profile body, then a painted sides (maybe real car stickers), gauges, H-shifter (6f 1r), handbrake, seat with motion etc.

I ve started this a month ago and managed to do some parts. Then started this topic to show how mine is going.

    I need your advices :)

Re: Started SimforceGT with wiper motors

First i started to build my electronic parts.
For dashboard, H shifter, and tacho i will use my software with connected via usb to a PIC18f4550.
It is working now. I can connect it as a wheel device to windows by HID class.
Now it has already basic things, buttons axises etc.

I am making my own Hshifter that i got the idea from a video in youtube.

    I ve a tacho (from a Megane)
(special thanks to ElektronikJack for all of his advices ;D )

    I will use
AVR Motion Controller (AMC) by Tronicgr
    Dual Mosfet H-bridge by Tronicgr
    for the motion part.

    hi pathetic,

i copy the last messages from the mailbox for the other member.
    you wrote :

i ve bought two wiper motors for testing. and i give order to a friend to build the body.

but i m not sure with dimensions.
i will say them to draw 3d of it then send it to forum for feedbacks.

    and then:
they are FIAT TOFAS cars two wiper motors. FAZ wiper motors 12v 42d/d and 62d/d (www.faz.com.tr)

For the pot position i dont know where to put it. But this pic was looking good for place http://pixpack.net/show/20081223152454823/wbrajwplvc
However my wipermotors dont have its axle in the bottom. its covered. i have to connect it somehow to the gear on it or find a way to put directly.

My wipermotors have 5 cables. 3 goes to motor , and 3 goes to gear (1 black is common)
I didnt understand how it changes the speed by using other cables:(
Now I only connect to red and black and it turns.

    hi pathetic,

the position of the pot is the same i use it ( i use a gearbox 1:3 not 1:4)
so you should get fast movments !!

the wiper motors have normally 2 wires for the low and high speed, ground , and power for the
    start position switch .

So i use the cables to the motor ( i cut the cables at the gear box) , the cables to the gearbox go to the start/stop switches.

i use the low speed wire. the speed is enough and the current at the highspeed wire ist too high.
( the motor was to hot after a wile).

importent is that you have to isolate the ground of the motor to the other motorground and the system ground !! If the motorground is connected to the motor case you can isolate the complete motor and movment-arm, or i diassemble the motor, cut the connecting, and connect it to a new separate ground wire.
if the motorground ist a isolated wire, you should be happy !
there are some projects in the web.

    bye dirk

    Thanks for replies ElectronikJack.

Ok then i will use the low speed cables too. And measure the current it derives with no load connection. Then i will load it somehow and look for currents changings.
(Edited: The motor derives 1900mA with BLUE-BLACK, 3200mA with RED-BLACK connection with no load.)

I didnt understand it totaly but i think u tell me to use 3 grounds. 1 for Hbridge boards (low voltage side) 1 for first motor and 1 for second motor.
Or u say both motors must have same ground. And the control cards have another isolated ground.

In second case: My wiper motors ground cable is connected to motor case. so its no problem to ground whole body. I will use metal bars, profiles for body. So they will be grounded together by motor connections itself.

    Hi Pathetic,
here is another solution to mount the pots. Look at Christian post and the pictures http://www.x-simulator.de/forum/chr...or-powered-by-wipermotors-t892-70.html#p10949 and now Christian has changed the position http://www.x-simulator.de/forum/tommys-simulator-powered-by-wipermotors-t1456.html#p14493

Thank you Michael N. I will use one of the ideas but now dont know which one. I have to make some changes to my wipers

I have started to build the body.
Can someone give me suggestions about sizes?

Attention on the motors. In some cases not only one winding is connected to the body. They also have capacitors and coils and sometimes these caps are connected to the body, too. You can't measure them with a multimeter - it still will measure an infinite resistance form windings to body. The only way to find them by measuring is with an insulating resistance instrument that works with 500VDC (shorten +/- to body measure).

The motors will run proper when not grounded to each other. But when both motors are connected and grounded via a metal frame they may cause damage to your h-bridge or amps.

    My Motion Simulator:
    3DOF
    nice work!
I just finished the AVR Motion Controller Board 1.5 and Dual Simple Mosfet H Bridges.

It´s working Ok in my tests, The wiper motors move side by side well. The lcd indicates the pots values.
I can comunicate with Hyperterminal too!! and change KP settings.

    BUT...

I have a problem to configure the X-Sim software to setup the board.

I´m using Native Serial port COM1, but I don´t know how configure it...
I´m searching about 1 week (8 hours per day) of reading... but I can´t find a tutorial or video guide that works.

I don´t know what version of X-Sim is best for AVR.
There is any tutorial, for the Tronic AVR controller? If so, I can´t find it.
I hope you can help me.

Thanks a lot for your time.
    Thanks

I was busy with other projects. Now i am back with my simulator. But i ve problems now.

Now i have nearly build whole body.

I am trying to send data to amc board

    In LCD

    128 128 560 401
    24 PWM v1.0 SFGT

I can take feedback from pots. The right side values are changing. But the first two X and Y axis values are always same.

I cant send data to them. In AMC_video_guide_part4 video tronicgr use x-sim v1.8, i have the newest one and its a bit different.

Anyone can suggest me what to do ?

Not: The problem has been solved. I was using 24mhz osc changed it to 18 and the Hex in it. But still at first run i connect 14 then shut and change back to 18.... When only i do these everything works :)
