    Welcome @Michael Lally.

A 6DOF is an ambitious first project. So doing some research with the kids before getting in too deep is time well spent.

You will find plenty of helpful information in the FAQs to get you started, in particular check out the design and 6DOF sections: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/

You can go through existing member projects for specific ideas or inspiration, in particular have a good look at some of the most recent 6DOF builds, as they introduce some new refinements and hardware options: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/forums/diy-motion-simulator-projects.22/

Or search for specific types of projects using the Google Custom Search function on the Recent page: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/find-new/posts?recent=1

If something sounds odd then look it up in the glossary: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/glossary-of-acronyms-and-names.66/

When you are ready please start your own project thread here: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/forums/diy-motion-simulator-projects.22/

    Good luck with your project.

Hey guys Im working with the YawVr 3DOF chair and see that more plugins are offered here at this site so I decided to join. I have also been watching this site for about a year and didnt know if I should join but it seems this will be the best way to meet some sim chair users and share info on games and setup and things like that with like minded people.

    Hello,

My name is Thomas and I am a software programmer in real life.
A while ago, I heard about YawVR and was immediately interested in it because I am a big fan of motion simulator rides. Now that my YawVR unit finally arrived, I plan to play a few racing games with it but also try to create my own programs or motion simulator rides for fun.

Looking forward to be part of this community!

Hello everyone, my name is Denvor, I'm from Madagascar , I' m a sea man in real life. I started playing game racing since 2012 and I ve found it very fun. Two months ago I ve think that it is very interesting to move the seat, looks like in real race, so I decide to search how to do in the web, I think that this forum/ community is the good and right place.
My project is a 2DOF for the begining (it will take a long time for me...), it is very huge difficult to find all necessary parts from here but the best thing is that I've just purchased an arduino uno yesterday.
Many thanks in advance for all your efforts and future helps ,if needed later. Sorry for my bad English language and I try to to my best , particularly for the Forum's rules.

    Sincerely yours,
    Denvor Richard.

    Evening all,

    Andy in the UK.
Was very close to buying an H3 from DOF Reality but decided I just can’t justify the money so have decided to build myself.

I’m planning a 2 DOF with traction loss, probably going to base on wiper motors and JRK controllers.

I studied programming through college/uni and spent most of my career as an engineer, plus built my own kit car so hoping that I should get on alright with a sim!

will likely start a project thread once I’ve got some bits ordered up...!

    So hi!
    Andy

    Hi Folks,

Bill from Perth, West Australia. I first saw Gianni's excellent 4DoF simulator last year in an electronics magazine (Silicon Chip, September 2019) but had too many things happening to do anything about it then, but now with more home isolation going on there's no excuse not to make it.

I've fabricated the frames and only need a small universal joint to complete the build, some electronics and code loading to the controller still need to be done but I'm almost there. I still have to purchase the steering wheel and pedals and decide on what platform to run it all on... but the main thing is I have a huge amount of reading this forum to see where to go from here.

What I've seen so far is Assetto Corsa appears to be the most used game for realism with car racing so I will start there - I've never had time to play games so am open to other suggestions if this is incorrect. I will upload what I have when progress is made so others can see the project.

    Regards to all,
    Bill
