    Hi All

Is there anywhere that sells a linear actuator kit without the motor for a stewart platform ? (Preferably Australia)

I know I can make them myself ... but I don't own a 3D printer and if I pay someone to print the parts ... will it be cheaper / easier to buy the kit itself ?

The base i'll probably build out of wood and get someone to fabricate the base part of the chassis (i'll use aluminum extrusion for the pedals / wheelbase / monitor / etc

I did search some sites from the various companies that advertise here .. but it seems they just sell the whole kit.

    Thanks

    Hey @C.Y :)

What stroke do you need on the actuator?
What load capacity do you need?
How fast does the actuator need to be?
Which type/size/RPM motor do you plan on using?
Do you have U-joints that the actuator needs to fit onto?
Do you want it internally constrained, or do you want to counter the motor torque through the U-joints?
Do you want the motor in-line or fold-back? (I reccomend fold-back)

Would 600 $AU (plus tax & shipping) per actuator sound reasonable?

Hey … tbh … I’ll probably DIY just so I know what part fits with what. Gonna be a long hard road as whilst there is a lot of info to sift through … there doesn’t seem to be much “this is what needs to be done” type help :sos

That depends a bit on what approach/design you have in mind for your DIY rig and actuators.

E-Racing Lab sells components in 'kit' form. The actuators they sell are not ideal for a steward platform right out the gate and would require modification, but it is something. You can also just buy subcomponent parts from them but it would likely be cheaper to source them yourself if you go that route.
