    Hello everyone,
That time of yr for me when I settle in for the upcoming winter season with some sim driving games again.:) I just upgraded ams2 with the discounted 50% off season pass and just today decided to download and try Crew chief for the first time with ams2. I Picked the wrong game to start off with! :(
With sometime of no joy with getting crew chief to even work, I found a video where the Shared Memory needs to be set in game to pcars2 for crew chief but it also needs to be set to pcars1 for my motion rig to work. So, I can get one or the other, Big question is....How do I get both?

Is there a work around for this dilemma? Thanks in advance, Mark

I tried Crew Chief v4 this morning on pc2 without any luck either with my motion rig, 2 different shared memory channels. I searched this forum and the net, but there's no solution.....At least none that I could find anyways.
So, I guess it's either 1 or the other ......BYE, BYE Crew Chief

I use crew chief and motion on AMS2. What motion software do you use? I'm currently using FlyPT Mover but I think SimTools would work too. I think there are different plugins for either shared memory or using UDP. There should be a combination that will work for you.

    Hi GWiz,
Thanks for your reply.....I'm using Simtools with the SCN5 2 DOF seat mover setup. Good to know at least someone's got it running with a rig. Not sure if there's any way to change scn5 settings to work with the same settings as Crew Chiefs.
I signed up on the Crew Chief forum earlier today but as a new member I guess I don't have posting privileges. I scanned the forum, but I didn't see anything there to help me with this either.

Yes...I'm using Simtools with the ams2 plugin. The problem is, there's only 2 different Shared Memory settings to choose from inside ams2, pcars1 or pcars2. I need to select pcars1 for my rig to work and pcar2 in order for Crew Chief to work.
My conclusion is, either the ams2 plugin needs a setting to be able to change it to pick up motion to the pcars2 in game setting or C.C. needs to be changed somehow to pcars 1 setting instead of it's pcars2 setting. If you're following me......
It's only been just over a day but I'm somewhat surprised that no one else has chimed in here on this.....Both ams2 and CC have been out for a few yrs now....I can't be the only one that has run into this dilemma.

This is the bit I'm not understanding, why do you need pcars1 selected for your rig to work? You should be able to get it moving with simtools, the ams2 plugin and pcars2 selected.

Because that's the way they setup the plugins to work I guess and the same is true with playing the pcars2 game. I'm only speculating but they might have just copied everything from the original pcars1 plugin to make the pcars2 and ams2 plugin as quickly and easily as possible. Therefore you have to pick pcars1 in order to get motion in pcars2/ams2 with Simtools. Once I'm in the game, I need to select pcars1 under Options/System/Shared Memory and that's the same reason CC doesn't work with pcars2, the game, either.

Ah, sure enough I've tested it out with Simtools and I don't get motion with Shared Memory set to Pcars2 either. This setting does work with FlyPT Mover which is the software I use more commonly.

A work around is to go to settings in AMS2, system settings, put shared memory to pcars2, UDP frequency to 1 and UDP Protocol Version to Pcars1. This should allow you to use both motion and Crewchief together with Simtools.

Personally, I moved away from using UDP as I suspected it was interfering with my multiplayer latency. Worst case scenario, you could always set up motion in FlyPT for AMS2.

Well GeeWiz! lol....That did the trick, THANK-YOU!. I almost deleted CC altogether after the 1st day figuring that there wasn't a work around for it. How did you come across those settings?

It was just what I had my settings as when I used to use Simtools. Glad it's worked for you because Crew chief is an excellent bit of software.

GWhiz......I didn't even know FlyPT Mover even existed. Goes to show you how much I get out! lol And I see there's even info here. Maybe I'll get it up and running with my rig if I'm lucky. From what I've seen of it on YT, it looks like it has some very promising software features.
Being that I'm in my mid 60's and a part time sim racer for about 6 months a year, it's hard for me to keep up with and more importantly remember all the "how to" things and settings to all that's involved. And I can tell you it's not getting any easier the older I get either. lol
I did a couple of custom races and I'm liking what CC adds to the experience.
Thanks again for all your help, Mark

GWiz...... Are you using SimTools as a source with FlyPT? I'm slowly trying to digest this new software but there's a lot to learn. I'm open to any advice you may have learned along your journey. Is there just a basic setup to use to get things moving in the right direction and then add more features upon learning how it all works?
    Thanks in advance!

You can, but I'm generally not using Simtools as a source. It's useful to be able to do so for games that aren't directly supported by FlyPT.

FlyPT is more complex to setup than simtools. There are some online presents available to download within FlyPT itself though it's mainly aimed at the DIYer and so you can set your rig up via the dimensions and specifications of your own rig. Unfortunately, it hasn't been updated for quite some time, hopefully it hasn't been abandoned altogether.
