    Hi!

I enjoy flying IL2 Sturmovik BOS / Flying Circus in VR; the open cockpit experience is amazing.

I’ve built a Fokker D7F cockpit pod and I’m building a 4 DOF motion platform utilizing the SimXperience SX4000 with SCN5 actuators for Pitch, Roll, and Yaw; plus a separate Arduino-controlled “crab pot puller” actuator for Heave.

I’ve looked but not found any SimCommander plugins for IL2 Sturmovik; but SimTools has three and I’ve downloaded them. (Thanks to the developers for that! :))

But how do I use a SimTools plug-in with SimCommander and the SX4000?

Some say it’s plug and play; but I’ve been watching Youtube, reading Forums, and fiddling with it for weeks unsuccessfully. I’m kind of lost in it all; not sure what part of the installation / setup procedure I’m missing or doing incorrectly.

HARDWARE: I have W10; both the Steam and Mfg. versions of IL2 Sturmovik; CH controls (Fighterstick and Pro Pedals); and an HP-G2 running SteamVR. It all works fine.

I also have current accounts and full access to the latest updates for SimTools and SimCommander.

I need a better understanding of the step-by-step setup procedure to run IL2 Sturmovik in the SX4000 via a SimTools plugin; a "set-up roadmap” or the like.

Can someone outline the pathway to make that happen; or point me at a tutorial or thread where that’s been defined, please? I don’t even know where to start anymore. Thank you!

    VBR,

    Pat

Basically you will need to use SimTools instead of SimCommander.
Here is a guy doing the same thing.
    https://www.xsimulator.net/community/threads/simexperience-help.15071/

You will need to figure out which com ports are assigned to your sim, then setup one at a time in simtools and see which ones are actually there.
You will be using the SCN interface driver, and you will be assigning one axis per interface (when ID = 0).
    Hope this helps,

Thank you. I was beginning to see it might come to that. I'll give it a try.

And thanks again for all the work you guys are doing to make this technology comprehensible to those of us from the points, plugs, and condensor era. Muchly appreciated.

I'm still waiting on yet another part before I can install the Heave actuator in the frame. Meanwhile, I'll try fiddling with getting the actuators to respond to IL2 Sturmovik telemetry. Thanks for the vector.

    Working... :)
