Question Need help with the direction of the forces

    Hi,
    i need help to understand how to set the direction of the forces on Game Engine "Axis Assigments".

    I have a 2 dof with 2 motors forward the seat.

    I have put the Anti-Rollover to roll and pitch but how can i set the right directions on all the forces?

    The 'Dir' check box in the 'settings 2dof.jpg' pic you posted above controls the Direction of output.

    Setup one dof up at a time, and see if they are working in the right direction.
    For Surge, make sure the sim leans back when you hit gas, and forward when you break.
    For Sway, make sure it leans away from the corner when your turning.

    ok i have tried one dof at a time and i have set the direction:

    I'm not sure if i set up right the direction of output of the "Heave" dof .
    How can I verify it?
    Is the "Heave" dof setup similar to another dof setup (direction of output)?

    Heave should move up when you go over a bump in the game.

    Thanks, now i have understand it.
    It is the the vertical G forces affecting the vehicle on the road texture and bumps.

    It is difficult to set the right direction of the force using the first course in LFS where there is only a small curb.

    If this force move the seat up and down as going up and down to a bump, it must be configured (direction of the axis) as the "Pitch" force?

    On a 2DOF there no actual heave axis, but what SimTools can do is simulate heave using the pitch axis, and automatically mix that in with actual pitch, as well as simulated surge, all using the same axis.

    but the Heave force reproduce also the road vibration?
    If yes, what can I do to accentuate the movement?

    Yes it can, personally I set a low Axis Allocation for Heave, often below 10, and an even lower Tuning Center value, which is often fractional, below 1, depending on the game.

    Hi noorbeast,
    about the Tuning Center... I didn't understand its usefulness.:think

    I have read that the tuning center allows you to set the Max and Min values that will be used by Game Engine to calculate how much of the axis is used.

    I have only to press the "Capture Max Min" button and drive around the track carefully and after press the "Save New Settings" button?

    Capturing the Max/Min is the first step, and should put the values in the ballpark, but likely needs some experimenting with manually adjusted values from the for best effect. Initially do manual adjustment enabling one axis at a time, then turn them all back on when satisfied.

    Capturing the Max/Min is the first step?
    Then I did everything wrong :(

    what is the "ballpark"? o_O

    I try to recap...

    I have 2 situations:
    A) the first installation of SimTools
    B) when i add a new game

    Recap situation "A" (first installation of SimTools):
    1a. install SimTools
    2a. configure SimTools
    3a. install LFS
    4a. patch LFS
    5a. launch LFS
    6a. open "Tuning Center" and capturing the max/min value for LFS
    - the max/min value captured go automatically on the "LFS profile" under "Game Engine - Axis Assignments"?​
    7a. open "Game Engine - Axis Assignments" and do a manual adjustment enabling one Axis force at a time on the "LFS profile"
    8a. when satisfied turn on all the Axis force
    9a. save the "LFS profile" and also save as "default profile" so i can use it for new games
    10a. play the game :thumbs
    It's right?

    Recap situation "B" (add a new game):
    1b. install the new game
    2b. install the plugin
    3b. patch the game
    4b. open "Game Engine - Axis Assignments" and copy the "defaul profile" to the new game profile
    5b. launch the new game
    6b. open "Tuning Center" and capturing the max/min value for the new game?
    7b. i have to do as 7a and 8a?

    3b. patch the game
    4b. open "Game Engine - Axis Assignments" and copy the "default profile" to the new game profile
    5b. launch the new game
    6b. open "Tuning Center" and capturing the max/min value for the new game?
    7b.Temporarily disable all but one axis in Axis Assignments by setting their value to zero.
    you can fine tune the Tuning Center settings for the one enabled axis by adjusting values manually and saving. Do that for each axis until you are happy each axis responds as you want, then re-enable all axis by re-enabling the original Axis Assignment values.

    I tried to do all the steps you suggested me but I don't seem to have noticed a difference after doing the Tuning Center.
    What benefits does the Tuning Center step (6b)?

    The Tuning Center values affects how the rig responds, the smaller the value the faster and harsher the response, over a smaller range, while a larger value is a more gentle response over a greater range of movement.

    ok i have did the Tuning Center for the "Automobilista" game:

    do I have to change this data now? and how can I do it?

    For example Roll: max 4.122... and min -4.122...
    if i change to max 6.0 and min -6.0 the rig is a more gentle response?

    Yes changing to 6 will smooth the motion, over a slightly larger range. I am guessing but heave you may want to go smaller in value, depending on your axis assignments, to simulate the finer details, given it is a 2DOF.

    This means that your sim will lean left and right with the roll input, where max roll input is +-4.122.
    So whenever a +-4.122 comes in for roll, the sim will be leaning it's full allowance for roll in the axis assignments.
    I suggest using the degrees that your sim can actually lean, as a good place to start.
    So if your sim can lean +- 20 deg, start with that and see how it goes.
