    Hi,

    I'm running Sim Tools 2.6 and just installed Dirt Rally 2.0, purchased/installed through the Steam app. Sim Tools requests a 'save game path' on my computer when i try to patch it. I've located where Steam saves the game, but choosing this file location when patching the game in Sim Tools, i get an error message (not accepted file location).

    How do i get around this? I've imported the plugin with the 'drag and drop' function in Sim Tools.

    Would appreciate some help here.

    Best, Richard

    Note that there's no folder named 'dirt rally' under 'my games'. So if I am to choose this location, I need to manually create that folder.

    First, unpatch the game in GameManger.
    Then complete a race in the game.
    Then repatch and try again.

    I can't unpatch it in GameManager, since it's not yet patched. It's when i try to patch the game i'm prompted to add a path/file location, which is the step i'm not getting past. So I don't see/get the option to 'remove patch'.

    Have you run a race first, before you do anything else, as that creates some required files?

    Yes, i have. And i can see in the Steam folder that a few races has been saved. They're in the 'remote' folder, and not the 'local' folder in the Steam app. My understanding is that Steam stores saved games locally at first, then moved to the cloud storage of Steam (and moved to the 'remote' folder)(possibly straight to the remote folder, if there's an internet connection available...). I'm not sure what the Sim Tools are looking for, though, but guessing some sort of 'save game'-file format, which might be why i'm unable to patch the game.

    If games/downloads from Steam won't work, i guess i'll have to purchase the game from somewhere else. But was hoping it would work.

    Really appreciate the support!

    We used the steam version of the game to make the plugin, and we patched in the my games folder too I believe.
    We are looking for the 'hardware_settings_config.xml' file.
    (I can take a closer look tomorrow when I get to my PC.)

    I think that was it! Found the file location and patched to to that folder, and the patching seems to have worked. I will get back shortly. Thanks again!

    I have the same issue but when I select "C:\Users\me\Documents\My Games\DiRT Rally 2.0\hardwaresettings" it gives the error "The selected path is not valid for patching".

    I also hand patched the file to this:

    Code:
        <motion_platform>
            <dbox enabled="true" />
            <udp enabled="true" ip="127.0.0.1" port="4123" ExtraData="3" Delay="1" />
            <custom_udp enabled="true" filename="SimToolsCustomUDP.xml" ip="127.0.0.1" port="4123" delay="1" />
            <fanatec enabled="true" pedalVibrationScale="1.0" wheelVibrationScale="1.0" ledTrueForGearsFalseForSpeed="true" />
        </motion_platform>
    This does not result in motion in the simulator. The patched light remains red in game manager.

    Anything I can check on my PC ? I am literate in XML, C++ and UDP.

    Today I had the idea it was protection related. The file protection was set and I cleared that. Then I ran Game Manager in admin mode no cigars. Finally turned off virus scanning still no joy.

    All other patching was easy aka AC, ACC, LFS, rf2 and MSFS. NOTE: I am running Windows 10 Pro.

    Anything else to try?

    Have you tried
    C:\Users\me\Documents\My Games\DiRT Rally 2.0

    I am running 64bit Windows 10 Pro.

    From "C:\Users\me\Documents\My Games\DiRT Rally 2.0" I get the error :
    "You Must first Install and Run the Game Once Prior to Patching".

    When I select "C:\Users\me\Documents\My Games\DiRT Rally 2.0\hardwaresettings" it gives the error "The selected path is not valid for patching".

    I copied files from the steam game save area to "C:\Users\me\Documents\My Games\DiRT Rally 2.0\savegame". The only thing I can think of to do is uninstall and reinstall the game. I may do that later today.

    I checked the protections on the files in hardware settings and none of them have read-only checked.

    Thanks for the quick response.

    As per the first notification the game needs to be run to generate required files, but that is the correct patch path.

    Yes, I have many saved games but they are in the Steam game save area (steam\userdata\nnnnnn\nnnn\remote). I copied some save games from the Steam area into a folder that I created called savegame in an attempt to get around this error. I also tried savegames folder to see if that worked.
