Hi everyone, just wanted to share our progress building the Kinemaniacs Portal development kit (ALPHA)

Parts arrived, all in good condition.

First step was to secure the feet to the ground as we opted to go with the bolted down option vs the weighted option.

    [IMG] [IMG]

Next up was securing the base which houses the motors and the centre part containing the 3 capacitors.

    Everything came together very nicely.

Next comes the mounting of the table.

Finally all parts have successfully been assembled.

we then followed on with some tests to make sure the system was working as expected.
    System check SUCCESS!!!!

We then prepared the cockpit, attached all the accessories. Steering wheel: Simucube 2 Pro, Pedals: Fanatec V3, Handbrake: Moza, Chair: Sparco R333, Shifter: DIY, Stream deck, Wheel deck: Simlab.

Finally we put it all together :)

    Hi Kinemaniacs,
what will be the estimated price-range?
And which feature do you claim as "patent protected"? Is the patent already granted or only pending?
    Thanks

Hi PeterW, estimated price for the first batch of dev kits is targeted at approx 3500$. We have filed a family of patents as the tech is advancing rapidly.

The system showcases a sophisticated application of mechanical engineering principles combined with advanced control systems, enabling precise and dynamic motion in six degrees of freedom (6-DOF).

I've signed up for the Kit on the site, but haven't heard anything (like everyone else). Is there a status update and is this real? I'd love to give you my money for one ASAP! :)

With all the videos pulled from YouTube, either something good or something bad is afoot with kinemaniacs...

They are done. Ran out of money, it was just a hope and a dream and a cool concept. Or someone bought the IP and they quietly disappeared and we'll see it soon in a bigger vendors product. There is a lot of action on the scene right now with a lot of stuff upcoming.

They have a lot of innovative ideas. The pneumatic support to reduce the required motor power and the gear-less drive with customized hoverboard motors is rather ingenius. But the screens and the virtual cockpit don't move together with the rig. That looks really disturbing and I think this ruins the immersion. If you want to sell sim rigs commercially and you aim at low cost there are always too much compromises to be made. If you spent only a few more bucks you could have a much better solution.

Quite interesting, almost exactly what I thought. The IP was sold/bought/moved around. I put in another pre-order on Ark's site :) Never heard back on the pre-order for Kinemaniacs, so let's see. I'll buy one!

Anyone have thoughts about how this sim works with aircraft and space-games?

I understand it will be awesome for driving.. but how will 140mm feel vs. >500mm movements on 6d0f actuator sims?

Fidelity and speed will be better on this. Can create 4G it says.. which sounds awesome for driving.

Extra motion is not super important I think. But this company publishes no names or addresses behind it, the company entity is registered on some lawyers name. But they will take your pre-payment. I have tried reaching out to them, but without payment they don't seem to answer their contact form. And that's the only way to contact them. No phone number either.

What I'd be worried about with this platform is the noise the compressor makes and the load it will carry. Also I would like to know how bad the motor cogging on those direct scooter motors is. And it is important to have spares available. What if one of the cylinders springs a leak and all you have is a contact form?
