    In some posts (but niot all) I can't see the pictures. For example, this post looks like this in my browser:
    XSim-Screenshot.jpg
    The pictures are shown as text but I can't click on them. I have already searched the preferences but I can't find any settings I could change to display the pictures. What's wrong?

    That is likely a net bandwidth issue rather than a forum problem, one that is most evident when there are a bunch of high resolution pictures in the same post.

    Ok, that's an explanation but no solution. What can I do to see the pictures? Can I make a link URL from the picture name?

    In the first instance please notify the person posting, as in the example you give there are 6 images, but there are far more on that single page, and the browser has to try and load them all within a given time window for page loading.

    I have no idea about your own network and internet access plan circumstances, but perhaps there is room for optimization. Also try other browsers.

    You could try right clicking on the image name and see if it will let you open the associated URL in a different browser tab, if that is exposed.

    But be aware the image name itself is not enough to divine the full URL. The URL link will have the same base URL https://www.xsimulator.net/community/attachments/ followed by the image name in standardised format, but also has appended tracking numbers at the end, and I don't think those will show even if you look at the page html code. The actual URL of the first image of your example is: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/attachments/20240803_124921-1-jpg.103928/

    @RaceRay as the site admin has likely done a bunch of site optimisations over the years, such as CDN use, but there are limits to what you can tweak site side against the issues that may create for members in different ways.

    Ok, I think I've found out something. The source code of the page contains
    Code:
            <div class="messageContent">
                <article>
                    <blockquote class="messageText ugc baseHtml">

                        I have completed the build of my Ball Screw based Motor Drive Test Bed. All of the fabricated components have been 3D printed and I have added some additional telemetry for testing.<br />

        <img src="https://www.xsimulator.net/community/attachments/20240803_124921-1-jpg.103928/" alt="20240803_124921[1].jpg" class="bbCodeImage LbImage" />

    <br />
    That includes the correct link URL of the picture. But if I click on that then my browser displays this:
    Code:
    <html>
    <head><title>503 Service Temporarily Unavailable</title></head>
    <body bgcolor="white">
    <center><h1>503 Service Temporarily Unavailable</h1></center>
    <hr><center>nginx/1.14.0 (Ubuntu)</center>
    </body>
    </html>

    So the browser decides to display the "alternate" text instead of the picture which is "20240803_124921[1].jpg". So it's definitely not a bandwidth problem. I can click the link later when the traffic is low. I don't know why the server says "temporarily unavailable".

    BTW, I have a 50Mbit/s connection. That may be not "state of the art" but it's also no serious bottleneck. I can browse other forums where the bandwidth is a lot lower due to some limitation at the server side. If there are large pictures the browser displays a blank area and later loads the pictures pixel by pixel. Sometimes it takes minutes until they are completely loaded. But that has never been a problem.

    Perhaps @RaceRay can share some further insights, when he has a spare moment.

    I also have trouble opening images if I use Mozilla Firefox.
    The solution is to use the browser Microsoft Edge every time it displays all the images regardless of their number in the thread.
