Hi All, Newbie here, looking into possibly building some kind of sim rig for flight sim (condor 2/3, MSFS, DCS).

    Hello,

I design and make watches for a hobby. I made my cnc machines (turn and 5axix milling) for it. I tought it would be nice to make a sim simulator, when i recently re-discovert simracing. The mechanics and electronics are pretty simular.

I am planning to make a basic seat simulator 2DOF first and see how it goes. If i succeed, i hope to make more complex desgins combined with traction loss.

I play on the playstation 5 and hope i can get i to work with the playstation. I read some posts about it and started with the software. Installeld SimTools 2 and 3 and the GT7proxy. I managed to get some telemetry reading results through CMD in windows and the GT7proxy.py file(s)

Next step is to check if the telemetry readings are ok en buy some hardware.

I am planning to use arduino beacause my 3d printer uses it and one of my cnc machines. but i have almost no programming knowledge. Hope to find 'ready to install' software for it.

    Regards Johan!

    Welcome @Robert f1.

Being a machinist is a great foundation for embarking on your own DIY motion sim build.

Hello, my name is Ray. I will sone retire. I am from Québec in Canada. I use to do kart races and I miss it. I try my first racing Sim ride last week. And now, I think it would be a nice hobby. I went to school as a machinist, but I have work as a mechanic for the last 30 years. I saw the xsimulator forum a lot in my browsing.

I saw some motion rig and I for a way to probably built one. I don't have or know about 3D print, so I search for cheep linear electric actuator like some on ali express.

And I got to this post: "6DOF Stewart Platform Motion Simulator" and wanted to ask question about the chinese rig,

so I sign-up. Hello to everyone!

    Welcome @irayspot.

If it is a commercial rig you are interested in then start a thread here and post details: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/forums/commercial-simulators-and-peripherie.52/

If you intend building a rig then start a thread here: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/forums/diy-motion-simulator-projects.22/

Keep in mind that something that is cheap may not be suitable for a motion rig, so bounce your plans and shopping list off members before jumping too far down what can be an expensive rabbit hole, if you get it wrong.

Any 6DOF is an ambitious project. So doing some research before getting in too deep is time well spent.

Use the Search on the Recent page to find the latest member 6DOF projects, as there have been many refinements to how members build 6DOF rigs.

You will also find plenty of helpful information in the FAQs, including a section on 6DOF rigs, along with design considerations: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/

If something sounds odd then look it up in the glossary: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/glossary-of-acronyms-and-names.66/

    Good luck with your project.

Hi Folks. My name is Bill, just getting into racing sims with GT7 on PS5. I wanted to add some bass shakers to my cockpit and found Simhub could snag telemetry data from GT7 pretty easily. That brought me to motion simulation and Simtools and this community. Wow, i think i've got my next few projects identified! Thanks to everyone for posting all their awesome builds. Hope i'm able to contribute in the coming months.

    Hello Guys,

Old guy from France, race engineer IRL (GT and protos) so I might be able to help with setups :)

I built a fixed alu frame sim rig with a Fanatec and now i have gotten my hands of some used SCN6 from Logykal (2 actuators) and of course I'm struggling :)
