Question DIY 6 DOF Car Simulator, Flight Sim from Alibaba advice

Hi All,

New here and chasing some advice, been reading loads over the last few weeks but have some questions in regards to building a 6dof platform, mainly for car racing, but also for the occasional arcade style flying games.

I've been looking at this kit from Alibaba. It looks good but I'm not sure "how" good it actually is. Been chatting to the seller, who says its top quality, but they'll tell you anything,

Anybody used the below? Thoughts on it?

Make clear which software you have to use. Because this combined Surge and Tractionloss Setup is not common. And with only 58mm vertical actuators, it will be only good for roadsurface haptics and a little bit of sway.

Oh Right, So not that good then! Lucky I asked. I cant find any info on google about it.

Whats a decent all round kit? Im guessing I'm looking for alot more than 58mm actuators then.

I'm a little confused, What's the best type of motion simulators? From what I can find, Actuators are the best, but there is so many conflicting posts on google. Basically my main thing would be car racing, but I would like to do the arcade style Flight games.

Would a budget of 6k AUD be okay? Trying to keep the whole setup under 10k AUD. DIY is possible also.

Just spoke to them, they have the option of 150mm actuators

Oh, didn't realise it was only 3dof. FYI, the price with 150mm actuators is $3990 USD.

150mm is for the most applications enough. Only for Rally i recommend more then 100mm.

Simhub and SRS doesn´t support this surge/tractionloss layout

Ahh okay, thanks for that. I didn't realize. Funny as soon as I asked them about compatibility with the software, they ghosted me lol......

100mm generally is enough then? So what software does support it?

Unfortunately i used only SRS and Simhub, so i can´t confirm if Simtools or something else can support it.

By the way, the idea of this layout is in my opinion a really good solution. Even if I have some doubts about the responsiveness of Tractionloss due to the small lever arm.


For most haptic feedback 100mm is enough. Dan Suzuki, Race beyond matter and also Boosted Media doesnt use more. Because with more movement it will be not more immersive, It will feel more like a complete exaggeration. I have 170mm but i am not using all of it for normal racecars. I use Sway and Surge(Pitch) only up to 30-50% and i limit Pitch Movement depending on the circuit.

In my opinion Tractionloss und Surge(Axis!) is a gamechanger and it makes me much faster and small Movements of Heave and Pitch/Roll is the most immersive. Race Beyond Matter made a video about it, he prefers only small movements with a static wheelbase and screen. Dan Suzuki has the same opinion.

I got a reply back, "Apparently" it works natively with simhub?

3DOF yes. But in Simhub you can setup TL and Surge only separat and not combined. They should describe how to do the settings...
