Hi guys! I'm new here and glad to have found this community

I recently picked up a CXC motion pro 2 from 2011, this thing has never been updated - it's currently running a Windows XP PC and it's pretty much a brick at this point

I had a new custom PC built for this sim with Windows 10, when I plug in the new PC the hardware is recognized as followed:

    “SimConBase”

    “Touch sense digital steering wheel”

    “CST performance pedals”

    “Speed shifter”

This is what comes up in the device menu - also seeing "Setup incomplete" for the steering wheel, "Setup incomplete" for SimConBase and "driver error" for the speed shifter, the pedals do not have any errors so I think those are OK

With the new Windows 10 PC recognizing the hardware, will I be able to use SimTools to get everything working correctly? Or is there something I have to update (actuators etc) for the outdated hardware to be compatible?

Also note, it seems the wheel is a Frex from 2008, one of their first designs from what I can tell - I've attached pictures of it

There doesn't seem to be much info out there on updating a system like this, I would love to get this rig in working order - any help is greatly appreciated thanks!

Oh wow, that's a beautiful machine!

As Norbeast says, Simtools will be helpful in getting the machine to move with the game data, but the peripherals are assumed to be correctly configured before you start. In other words, don't worry about the motors and motion just yet, get whatever game you want to play responding to input like it should.

This is mostly about finding the right drivers and software. You're on the right track for that, keep googling those names and you should find the downloads you're looking for. If you can't any, maybe it would be better to upgrade those parts anyway.

For example, if the steering wheel is so rare that you can't find drivers, maybe look into the kickass force feedback ones available today and spend the energy mounting the superior inputs instead.

I doubt you'll have to replace anything though, you're close to having it all working as is. XP was still in the world of USB and once we got that, game peripherals were easier to work with.

I did some digging, the system is in fact running SCN5 and a Simcon motion controller, I'm also reading that simcon motion from Frexgp is now compatible in SimTools? If this is not true, I will order the USB to RS485 adapters for each actuator

    Thanks for the response guys!

    @djl94,
When you plug the Simcon motion controller into your PC, does it give you one, or two com ports? If I remember correctly, it gives you just one com port. (Meaning one of the actuators is assigned with an ID = 0, and the other is ID = 1)

Anyway, let me know and we can go from there buddy.

So then try out the SCN interface in SimTools v3, and set one actuator for ID=0 and one for ID=1.
After you click save, it will ask you to restart SimTools. (make sure you actuators are powered) When restarting SimTools, do the axis center?

If they do not, swap the axis assigned for ID=0 and ID=1 and try again.
Please let us know how it goes.
    Take care!

In the picture you posted above, it says that there are no drivers installed for this device. Maybe you need a driver for the hardware?

Yes, I’ve already tried to get the driver - the issue is, they are pretty much non existent at this point because the hardware is very outdated, unless there is another option I’m unaware of, but I did search google etc and did not find anything

    Hi @Shige Tanaka
I believe this is older FREX hardware, is there a way to get this hardware working with Win10 or 11?
Is there a updated driver, or should we replace the SimConBase with a usb serial adapter?
    Thanks!

    Thanks! @yobuddy

Another issue I’m having is the Frex wheel works great with 32 bit games, with 64 bit the games will not start when the wheel is plugged in. Everything else works in 64 bit (shifter, pedals) if I unplug the wheel the game will launch just fine so it definitely has something to do with the driver support for the wheel

I did email Frex for the drivers and Shige did send me the 64 bit vista driver for the wheel, even once I installed that driver 64 bit games still will not launch with the wheel USB plugged in, does anyone know a fix for this or would a new wheel be a solution? It would suck to toss this one as it does work great

Have you tried to plug the wheel into a different usb port of the PC after installing the new driver?
It may be worth a try.
