    Hi all,

I had a good look through the forum but can't seem to find what everyone uses as a 'control arm' on their potentiometers. I've noticed that most of the potentiometers available on the market have a small 8mm slot on the top of the shaft, but where does one find a gear or arm that fits this slot, or does one just find something that incoporates a grub screw to lock it off?

    Thanks,

    Julian

There are many different ways to do it, and I think everyone is doing it differently from the materials available.

The only advice I can give is not to attach the pot very strong to whatever is moving because they will be damaged very easily if the motor runs away.

Hmm what do u mean by the motor runs away? I was thinking of r/c ball joint and rod ends? I'm just thinking what kind of force te potentiometer would experience if the pedal is left to slap back to its neautral position. I was thinking of maybe rubber mounts to help that, but I don't want to lose any accuracy.

What do you mean by control arm? I was assuming it is the arm of a wiper motor moving a platform.

    What is the application here?

Sorry, I think I used the wrong terminology! The potentiometers are needed to measure the rotational displacement of each pedal (throttle, brake, clutch) as I am building them from scratch. The issue I'm having is the lack of any sort of lever or gear that fits on the potentiometer shaft in order to link it up to the pedal system.
