    Hi

    I have not tried either of those.. but the first one is plastic type and is more durable when use continuous .and are better built . and I assume much more precise.

    I used the digikey ones in my simulator pedals, very sharp and accurate. I went ahead and ordered the digi. already had one, so well see, not a multi turn but from what i read I dont need that

    Do you think they would be accurate enough for motor positioning? Im not sure that would be a better experience, give it a shot!

    most of advance project use accelerometer + gyro for accuracy.

    Accelerometers can't be used for position feedback, just think through what would happen... :)

    frakk: I'm just think of that. if it can be done maybe we can just stick the accelerometer at the bottom of the seat.done. One accelerometer enough for 2 or 3DOF. :D

    The data from an accelerometer is useless to effectively position an actuator/motor.

    Accelerometers are great to capture g-forces in a real racing car, a plane or a roller coasters. Combined with a video, this data can be used with the X-Sim video plugin.

    But I cant see any purpose for accelerometers as position feedback for actutators/motors.

    Potentiometers, hall sensors, quadrature encoders, = position feedback
    Accelleromters = acceleration feedback

    For motor control you need position feedback

    I am newbie in this arena,,,not going anywhere without advice from you guys. tilt sensor maybe more suitable rather than accelerometer. I am just thinking about this because too many people including myself have a quite same problem with pots etc. type, size, noise, harness or even gearing.

    You could replace pots with hall sensors. They are pretty accurate and dont wear out
