    My Motion Simulator:
    2DOF, DC motor, JRK
I am running a 2 DOF office chair setup, using Simtools across 2 PCs.
I have got movement fully working in Live For Speed.

So I downloaded other Plug-ins and installed using Sim Plug-in updater tool (run on both PCs).
I can see files installed on both PCs in correct place on disk
and plugin is listed with setting in both Game manager & engine manager fine.

    Next..
I created my own CFG in the \filepath\ directory with one line path to game e.g. C:\games\pCARS
This worked ! Project cars game works now.

    But...
I did same as above for Codemasters Grid Autosport, Start the game but nothing,
no values appear in Tuning centre, profile not loading in Game manager, just says connected.
Same for my other Codemaster games : F1 2013, GRID 2 and Dirt 3 except GRID (v1)

    I start GRID game....
Simtools Game manager shows "Game running" and loads correct profile
Simtool Game engine show axis & interface locked in use.
and seat moves to start position at start of game
but no values (all 0) in Tuning centre and seat does not move when driving.
    JRK's show no errors.

Can anyone offer advice what to try next please ?

You should not be creating you own CFG files, first because the path may be incorrect as it is not the same for all games and second because you may accidentally create a file permission issue.

You should be running Game Manager as Administrator and use it to patch the games. It will also give you guidance as to the paths that apply to different games, and confirm that everything went OK when patching the game for motion.

With Dirt 3, and I suspect other CodeMaster games, the patch path is via My Documents not the game install path.

Have a read through the SimTools FAQs, particularly the documentation: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/simtools-settings-tips-and-tricks.18/category

If you get stuck post pictures of all your settings, as that really helps with troubleshooting.

I created different CFG files for different games, to give filepath
pointing to where game is installed.
    Yes logged in as Administrator.

Codemaster games supports the Dbox motion standard,
I have tried turning this on, but I don't know what tcp port Simtools use to connect to game engine on 2nd PC ?

    Okay fixed.... For info.
I'm running Windows 7 SP1, which needs Optional Windows update: "Platform upgrade"
Display text size needs to 100%
Now I see all of Simtools

    Filepath needs to C:\Users\username\My Documents\My Games\Codemasters\gamename
And Dbox motion = false in Hardware_settings

    I now get problem,
where I setup and save Axis setting in SimEngine, play game fine
Come out, go back in, all fine, but reboot and Simtools, looses some Axis settings,
still shows 100%, but roll or Pitch is missing...

I am just clarifying that you are indeed saving the Axis settings, as you have not explicitly said that you are.

Yes definitely, I save and sim works fine, I reboot & have to re-setup, some entries.
I should say it only happens when I put in more the 2DOF
I'm testing, combining Roll & Sway + Pitch & Surge, to give me all the game effects on 2 motors.

Are you keeping the settings for each game in the same DOF columns as the default profile?

For CodeMaster games, if you’re on a 32bit machine, you patch the game in the game path install.
But for a 64bit machine, you have to patch in the documents folder for that game.

I personally have never run SimTools in admin mode, although I know a few games need it to collect data from a memory hook.
But I have never needed admin mode for any cody games.
    Hope this helps!
