A friend and I both decided to make our own DIY motion rig after finding this site.

We were going to go the arduino route at first for the cost benefits but later decided to go JRK.

At first I made a model so that I could get the software working, SimTools v1.3 at the time, and get my head around the basics. I have a video of this working but not on me. I will add it soon.

So we both started collecting the ingredients required to build our rigs and eventually about a month ago I had the below delivered.

My Kind friend had welded up a UJ to some plates, made some brackets and made some arms for the motors. He also sourced the motors.

The only thing I've done here is attach the rose joints.

Laying the main components out to see how they will fit into the space available.

    The JRK's really are tiny

The bolts etc. have arrived so I start to put it all together. Using a part of an old Panasonic TV stand that my wife told me to throw away 5-10 years ago! I don't like throwing things away.

An unused panel from my new kitchen last year becomes the seat base.

Having missed a couple of stages of photo opportunity, here we have the motors bolted down and the arms attached to the seat base

I've never been very good at keeping my bench tidy while working.

What are the specs for the motors you are using?

So the next day I continue my build

    Mounting the pots

Both in place and working out where I'm going to put the JRK's before I find out I don't have the right size screws for them

Screws have arrived and with the use of some cut down raw plugs I secure them to the board.

    All wires soldered or connected

    Fan added.

Just for fun I decide to take pictures as I take it all apart, I won't bore you with all of them.

    Time to rebuild

Outside to remove the old base and cut it down.

Back in position with the new increased height.

Pedals in. Time to start adding the rest back

It all looks so neat and tidy before the cables go back in

    :) too many pounds Joao.

I did however get it working with iRacing last night and it managed to shift my weight.

Now starts the never ending tweaking session.

    This model .

By the graphics, it can 25Nm at 30rpm using a lever of 2.5cm with 100kg on top of the axle, ie the 2 engines will hold about 200kg at 30rpm the speed is not the best but that's what I can have.

Takes a look at my thread.
