After some lurking, a few questions and fretting the little stuff, pieces have started to arrive.

    Parts List So Far:

    PGSaw 25:1 Motors
    MotoMonster clone
Arduino Duielemove (To be replaced as next chinese order arrives)
    HP Server Power Supply
    Hall Sensors
    Cruising USA Seat and sound
    Steel

-First steps were loading up the SMC on the Arduino. Success!
-Wire to MotoMonster. Double Check. Check one more time. Success!
-Remove wiper motor from crashed vw van, isolate ground and connect to test. Success!

    Continued....

    Box up the electronics.

Tested with the Live For Speed Plugin with the VW motor (just on the one motomaster channel) and everything seems to work with the game, and thats without the POT connected to the motor. I only had a 50k Pot around so that is what i used for testing but didn't connect it. It seemed to work so well i actually thought about just doing a 1DOF build with the VW motor since i already have the 3dof simxperience DIY this one was just so i don't have to let guest drive mine

And then the welding. Motors haven't arrived but they should be here shortly.

Started with the seat frame. I didn't get fancy and try to angle the vertical bars back again to follow the seat contour. I figured this may not be the seat that stays on the unit at the end.

Once i get the motors mounted i will figure out the top bar along the vertical bars based on how my connecting rods work and the angle i need

    And done work for today...

ok well i cleaned up the welds... I still didn't weld the seat cross beam into the frame. I'll wait until the motors are mounted to get the best angle on the connecting rods

Seems like good progress :) didn't you want to make the seat base adjustable? so that you can move the seat to the front or back to test multiple angles for the motors.

I'm an eyeball kinda guy. I think once I have the motor mounts setup I will be able to properly place the seat location. I will tack it into place and try everything out

finally motors arrived. I think I've got everything (except shaft couplers) ready to go. Time to start on the motors mounts.

Looking good so far. I like the use of the retro Atari arcade seat, although I do wonder how comfortable that will be for long sessions. You might want to consider a seat belt also. I have a 4 point harness, which I might change to a 5 point. Most of the time I only latch the lap belt and that is fine, but with no belt I get thrown around a lot.

thanks for the compliments. i agree about the long term comfort. this one is really for guest so i don't have to share my rig so it is a compromise. But the seat looks really good and the sub built in provides great tactile feedback. as good as my buttkickers on my rig

motors mounted, lever and arms next....

ok.... after starting over with a different motor monster i seem to be moving forward. Assembled the frame and got some basic testing done.

NOTE ***** DO NOT USE PRINCESS AUTO 1" U-Joint

I ignored the advice i had seen somewhere on here. It has a crazy amount of slop in it. Thankfully i had the advice in the back of my head when i built everything so the seat/u-joint assembly bolts to the main frame so i can upgrade it when i hit a wrecking yard.

and assembled. Now time to do some wire tidying and profile adjustments.

I at some point also commented to how much slop those Princess joints have, Not ideal by any stretch. A Big ol Dirty U joint from a Truck is what your after....Most ALL Auto scrap yard will have one for you....you are in Sk after all. lol

Should have listened to you Nick :!

Ok so I've cleaned it all up now and tried it all out. pretty happy except the u-joint is slight erratic with the slop in it.

Here are some pictures of the final rig at least for the rear motion part of the rig. I will most likely fix up the front half. Currently it does have interchangeable controls for flight sim controls or racing wheel.

thank you for all the help along the way. Now when i have friends over i don't have to feel guilty that my seat has motion and is so much better.

    Hello
    Really nice project !
Can you share your arduino code ? I try to make my own 2 Dof simulator but I have a lot of problems to communicate between simtools, my arduino and my MM shield. I'm able to send Hex with the arduino monitor and the motors moove but when I lunch simtools, nothing moove.

You need to ask for help by starting your own thread, not posting it on another members build thread. You also need to supply far more information about what code you are actually running: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/forums/diy-motion-simulator-building-q-a-faq.31/
