    My Motion Simulator:
    2DOF
    Hello everybody!
We are 3 friends that want to begin a 2dof motion sim project but don't know how to start. Right now we have a thrustmaster TMX wheel and pedals , a racing seat, PC, wood and tools to cut the wood for the project. This weekend we were thinking about building the static version of the sim, just to get the hang of building stuff on our own ahah :grin (we are 22-23 years old). Next step would be the actual motion part of the sim.
So, should we start building it with the motion sim in mind or just go with the flow? Where can we find the chepeast parts and how much would it cost us, without the parts already mentioned above.
    Thanks everyone! :cheers

You will find plenty of helpful information in the FAQs to get you started: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/

Use the Search on the Recent page to find related projects of interest: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/find-new/posts?recent=1

If something sounds odd then look it up in the glossary: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/glossary-of-acronyms-and-names.66/

Most here are custom DIY builds, but there are some very detailed projects plus a great Design section in the FAQs: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/design-considerations-resources.24/category

Including a thread on rig dimensions: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/cockpit-design-dimensions.116/

    Possible design related software: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/design-software.114/

And most importantly tools like SimCalc to help work out appropriate design choices: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/calculating-basic-linear-speed-and-forces.89/

The first step is deciding what specific type of rig design interests you. For example, a 2DOF could be a seat shaker, shoulder mount, compact mount, knee mount, or conceivably even a foot mount design.

Some members like @Halloween2go and lately @Kevinski have created prolific and detailed video build tutorials, as they have learned things themselves along the way. Similarly, once you choose a particular design you can search existing builds and ask specific questions about them, as it is much easier to follow a well trodden path than make multiple mistakes.

When you are ready please start your own project thread here, ask any questions you have there and detail your project progress: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/forums/diy-motion-simulator-projects.22/

    Good luck with your project
