    My Motion Simulator:
    2DOF, DC motor
    Hello,
I would like to introduce myself: My name is Thomas, I am 49 (yes, unfortunately) and come from Switzerland. My hobbies are various diy projects. In the last few years there have been a few: Virtual Flipper, Arcade Table, Modular System, etc. and now my Racing Seat. I chose a 2 DOF version with 2 really powerful motors, Sabertooth controller, 2 power supplies, Logitech steering wheel, handbrake and 3 monitors, rumble . The whole was built with PVC pipes and aluminum profiles as well as a correct seat adjustment.
It's already working but not finished yet. For the moment, I am still the problem with the position sensors to solve.
The first variation was with built with potentiometers but I wasn't happy with it. Always had disturbances. Now I have special magnetic sensors ordered. They work in 0-180 ° and should give a 0-5V output without noise. Let's see..

I'm looking forward to your feedback ...

    Nice work :thumbs

I am really looking forward to seeing a video of your rig in action.

That looks to be a custom adapter for the motor to gearbox, was that to get a specific ratio?

Thx! No, i've ordered the motors and the gears but there wasn't a part to hold them together so I had to construct something by my self ;-)

As soon as i mounted my new position sensors I will make a video in action.

Great to see your rig in action, it looks both powerful and responsive.

In the video there does seem to be some flex in the base frame.

Yes, great! Thank you. Yes, there is some flex in the aluminium frame, but i not think this is a problem. What i have to change is the way i get the position with my self designed and printed case with the special magnetic encoder. I use 2 (1:1) self printed gears for the moment and there is backlash the results sometimes in selfoscilation of the motor. (Fast and small up and downs). I've ordered 2 gears with cog belts i am waiting for. I hope after that mod everything is perfect...

I mentioned the flex as it will soak up some of the fine motion details. Some bracing may help.
