2dof simulator

    Hi, I'm new here and just starting to build my first 2dof system. I have very strong industrial worm gear drive 1:51 and 160w 24v motor that also have 1:8 angle drive build in and out puts 480rpm. Motor it self puts out 4000rpm without worm gear. My question is should I take motors worm gear off and use that heavy duty industrial worm gear and get 78rpm out? If I would use them both as is I would get 9.5rpm and that do not work or am I wrong?

    My whole rig would be moving including wheel and pedals and maybe monitor that is 70" tv weights 20kg or 44 lbs

    I forgotten to say that I have 3 pcs those motors and worm gears and traction loss would be nice feature.

    The motor (according to the label) has 2 Nm or torque at 480 RPM. 20 Nm at 48 RPM is closer to what you need but still weak. 9.5 RPM is too slow to provide a satisfactory experience.

    I removed worm gear from the motor so now it puts out 4000rpm and if I now use that large worm gear that has 1:51 ratio, then rpm is 78. But how many newtons? I can buy new motors and that is no problem but I just would like to use those worm gears that I have because they are really heavy duty so they would last for a life time.

    I'm machinist so it's no problem to me to make all parts needed. Of course if 160w power jus is not enough then I just have to buy new motors.

    I think I'm gonna use MY1020 24v 500w with my 1:51 worm gears. Another option is MY1020 24V 350w if that would be better from the motor controller point of view. Can someone tell me what kind of controller would be sufficient in either case? It would also be interesting to know if there is anything bad about these motors for this use.

    I'm pretty sure the 70" TV isn't on the rack, just the bench, steering wheel, and pedals. I would be very grateful if someone could give me answers to these questions and I could get started on my project. My plan for the frame is to welded a tubular frame that is 40*40*1,5 mm steal square tube.

    Those motors are for electric bikes and sold in ebay, Alibaba and such places.

    I think that's in a range (maybe 15Nm) where it can move you around. If you are near the balance point it takes less than if it's at an angle. You can also reduce the torque requirement by using a shorter level arm. For example my rig works well with a 70 mm lever arm and sucks with an 80mm lever arm. I would go for it you will at least get some experience and maybe move onto a more powerful motor later.

    I measured my motors torque with a luggage scale. I had a 1oo pound scale and as I recall a 4 inch lever arm. I hooked the lever arm to the luggage scale with a rope and ramped up the PWM. In the end I came up with 36Nm. Maybe that 2Nm number on the motor is conservative and it's really twice that.

    I will measure torque and then decide what to do. I have force meter in my work place. Any opinions about those ebay's MY motors? Does anyone have any experience with them?

    I really would like to try these 500w motors if there is motor drivers that can handle 27,4A current. Torque would be 91Nm at 1:51 ratio! Maybe this is asking for troubles :D

    From what I looked at the power supplies don't cost much. 24V 30A 720W cost around 50$/each.

    Of course, it is not wise to oversize too much if the need for power is not going to be very great.

    Consider how you are going to attach a lever arm to this. They have to be rock solid.

    No. I would attach worm gear to the motor. These motors don't have gearbox. I would use axle couplers that I already have. You can see that worm gear in my first post.
