Hello everyone. I have a fixed triple monitor sim racing rig (using VRS wheel and pedals) that has inspired an idea for a mountain bike simulator I'd like to build. I'm a software engineer and have been working on the "game" part of it now I'm ready to start building the motion part. From what I have learned I feel like a 3DOF platform with pitch, roll, and heave would be a good place to start. I'd like to end up with something similar to this:

What kind of motors are being used here? And should I use something similar for my build? Or can I go with something like a 90ST-M03520 but just mount them sideways? I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around all of the motor choices. Cheers.

    My Motion Simulator:
    AC motor, Arduino, 4DOF
I created almost the same simulator, they are three-phase asynchronous motors (they seem to be equipped with forced ventilation to cool it) controlled by frequency variators (on my simulator I use a voltage of 230V ac (france) and the variator transforms it into 230V three-phase...
you can watch my creation on my account.
good luck, but everything is achievable...

Awesome. I don't know if I need something as beefy as that.. It's really just going to be a bicycle on top with someone on it.

Here's a video of the game which I have outputting the 6dof through flypt. This is just using raw data with no filtering or limits in place.

i like the bicycle idee ..... i did some simular project for older people in a take care home with a bicycle with no motion , just pedaling and steering ..they could bicycle real life in there old town there lift one,s ..and keep them in action .

some idee , cheap 3 dof with motion box . wp motors 24v with yaw also . myself and the seat 120 kg , no problem lifting .

Very cool. I've decided to go with https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256...il_item.2.49fef19chsoEc3&gatewayAdapt=glo2usa these motors and these gear boxes: https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256...il_item.2.49fef19chsoEc3&gatewayAdapt=glo2usa at a 50:1 reduction ratio. This should allow for a wide range of experimentation. I'm not light and there's also going to be a handlebar servo up there and a car alternator (probably if my eddy current brake expirements pay dividends) and my not so light frame, as well as the bicycle and whatever mounts.

I tried buying a mountain bike on facebook marketplace but didn't want to pay $150 for some rusted out mongoose from 2004. Walmart had this Huffy (don't laugh it's a prototype) that I got for $88. I got 10% off because it had been used, the chain stay was beaten up and there was dirt all over it. They even left their lock on the bike lol. Anyway it will be interesting.
