I have recently purchased 2 Rock'n'ride motion simulators, 1 vm110 Vellman usb board, 1 vm129 relay board. I plan on upgrading the board in the rock'n'ride to use with x-sim. I would like the rock'n'ride to function at 3 speeds.

    These are my questions?

Can I use the valves that come with the rock'n'ride to achieve the 3 speeds? (IE combine the valves from both R'n'Rs into one system).

If not what kind of valves do I need and can you provide me with an example of 1 or 2 so that I know what to look for. (I was planning on using a 24vdc setup).

Is there anything that it appears that I am not understanding?

Also Wanted to brag about the deal I got on ebay. I bought both together for $47 US. Too bad shipping was super high.
    Thanks in advance.

Yepp, you need a 4 pair of valves.

Ok - So should I or should I not by 5/3 valves? Does anyone have a rock'n'ride already setup using the vm110 & vm129 as well as 8 24vdc valves? If so can you given specific info as to the valves you used?

The two prior posts only make me more confused. I don't understand the black and white diagram. The color diagram makes sense to me, but I am told that it is incorrect.

I have the vm110 & vm129 boards, the r'n'r', have not purchased valves as of yet. How should I best proceed?

Re: 8 Valves for Rock'n'Ride to perform at 3 speeds?

    Thanks again for the reply.

Am I to understand then that for the RNR, I do not have to purchase any additional valves or replace any valves to achieve 3 speeds?
If that is correct then I think I understand. If not, then what else do I need to purchase to get the R'n'R running the first time at 3 speeds using x-sim.

    Thanks for the help.

Thank you for the response. I understand and will be working on it shortly. I will post pictures and video of my setup from start to finish once everything is complete.

Re: 8 Valves for Rock'n'Ride to perform at 3 speeds?

    2 Questions:

    1. I am about to hook up my velleman vm110 to my rock'n'ride. I need a 12v power supply with enough amps to run the valves - does anyone have a good suggestion for the best cost effective power supply. - I have read that I could use a computer power supply but i would not know which wires on the atx wiring scheme to use.

    2. I read recenlty that in hooking up the velleman vm110 I need to hook up the 12v power supply to the board itself and also to each individual valve. Is this correct and if so is there a diagram that you may know of that shows what goes where.

    Thanks in advance

Re: 8 Valves for Rock'n'Ride to perform at 3 speeds?

    I found this wiring diagram.

    [img600px]http://www.x-simulator.de/main/images/stories/x_sim_content/3speed_4valves.jpg[/img600px]

It appears that there is no common ground for the valves but rather that the valves input come from the 12v power supply and the output to the VM110. Is this correct?

I am answering most of my own questions today.

I found this pinout diagram for an atx power supply connector. (Attached)

According to the pinout I use yellow (10) as my 12vdc positive and blue (12) as my negative. I must short out green (14) with a common ground (15) to turn the power supply on.

I connect yellow (10) and blue (12) to my vm110. I connect 1 wire from each valve also to the yellow (10) and connect one wire from each valve to the vm110.
Then I connect the sliders and I should be all setup.

Does it make a difference which valve wire I connect the vm110 and which wire I connect to my yellow (10) 12v+?

    hi just for info
i use the same system with only 2 valve and i use a 1/4 rotation ball valve controled by a servo motor for the speed control and its work really good and have a full speed ratio

but my settup work with a phidget interface i need to find a way to drive my servo with the vellman k8055 one i whant to merge to x-sim because the software i have write in vb to interact with flight simulator is to complicated for a basic programer like me
