I am about to start a simulator project. I almost started one years ago but got sidetracked with building arcade machines. I was building arcades for a few years and selling them but now I am crossing over the simulators. I do not plan on making them to sell but I did not plan on making arcade machines to sell either so who knows. I want to build a 2dof with traction loss, my understanding is that this is a 3dof then? My questions are as follows.

I'm a big guy and all my friends are too. What is the best motors to use to move some heavy guys?
I am connecting the motors at the shoulders not under the seat.

I see a lot of 2dof simulators do not move the screens too. Why? Modern screen do not weigh very much. I would like to move the screen also.

It is not just motors there are design factors at play, SimCalc can help you get your head around the physics, motors, levers and angles involved: https://www.xsimulator.net/communit...e-linear-speed-and-forces-of-your-design.270/

Where you are in world may also affect what you have access to in terms of motors at a reasonable cost: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/dc-motors-shopping-list.32/

But you will want something with plenty of torque, so look at 50:1 or 60:1 gearboxes and run the specs through SimCalc.
