I searched the forums here for any links to their website or the company name but didn't find any. Apologies if this is already covered here somewhere. I also am not affiliated with them in any way. This is just a question. I'm really curious how they do it. (https://www.gforcefactory.com/)

I was looking around at other people's motion platform videos and had one of this company's YouTube videos pop up. It was intriguing because of the very small size of the mechanism and they say it is a true 6dof platform and it looks it in the videos from the motions. They wrap the mechanism all up in a pleated cover so you can't see how they did it, but if you check the website, videos, and photos, it's really compact. Then, if you check the specs, they list it as 800 Watts max (115V/7A or 230V/3.5A) with a 330lb/150kg platform weight including user.

Motion isn't that extreme but my aim is for use with VR and I don't think that really needs all that much motion. It is much more than I was expecting on that platform, though. They don't list a price and it's not available yet (Q2), but it looks good for VR use and maybe even monitors (which they show it with).

Anyone know how they could fit a 6dof mechanism in there and make it lift that much weight on such little power? Maybe I'm wrong about 800 Watts not being that much for a 6dof but 115V/7A seems nicely tidy and would easily fit with standard house wiring. I was thinking when I went motion, I'd need batteries to help deliver the needed power.

Mods: If this isn't the right place or it's inappropriate, please delete. I'm just really curious and like I said, I have no affiliation. It's not an advertisement or endorsement.

Thanks, Noorbeast! I checked out ZigZag's and it is indeed compact. Some amazing talent here. I'm on a tablet now and not all the pictures loaded, but learned a few things from him. Will explore more of his build. I really like the compact approach. From the other 6dof designs I've seen, I was thinking I'd need a larger setup. Obviously not.

    So much to learn. ;-)
