Some time ago I stumbled over a thread somewhere in the net, where the guys have been talking about the possibility to use the residential water tap as a power source. But I am not able to find this thread anymore.

Here the result of my brainstorming:

    Pro:
-Not compressable like air (immediate motion possible)
-residential conduit has ~6Bar (at least where I live), as like most air compressors
    -Flow rate is sufficient
-Silent comparing to hydraulic or pneumatic compressors

    Cons:
    -Corrosive
    -Wastes drinking water
    -Needs special equipment most likely

    What do you think?

    Regards

Do you mean using water as a replacement and alternative for oil in hydraulic cylinders?

Tap water contains chloride substances that can corrode the hydraylics valves and the cylinders after some use!! Not recommended! Unless you know any valves that are made from plastic!!! :brows:

You could use steril water in a closed curcuit not taped.

And don´t forget the oxidation, but the oxygen could be degaussed just as in your heater at home. Without any oxygen, no oxidation.

its been i while that i posted something.
I've read this post and as i recall water lets itself compress almost like air and oil doesn't.
so in order it to work, you almost would think that you would use watertight pneumatic actuators for it to work. ;P i think.

well they use it in water cut machines but pressure is really high (hundreds of atmospheres)

Sure you can set water under pressure...but it does not reduce its volume. And that is the point :brows:

However, I dont think anymore, that this thread will lead to something practical...
    So never mind...

    regards

Well OT never kill anybody :D
I thought that too, but i was on seminar where speak man who build water cut machines and he say that water can be compress quite well. Of course not in our conditions :D
