Need help with setting up and connecting to an audrino uno board. Windows 7 everything is connected but no motor yet just trying to get the board interface to show it is working with the game.

Can you give us a bit more info some screen shots of software installed and some pictures of the wiring and motor controllers used?

I just have the Audrino running three stepper motor drivers the audrino software installed and it is connecting to com3 under ALL when I load the game of il2 cliffs of dover I am not getting any virtual readout. i have not hooked up any motors just trying to get the audrino at least recognized. do I need to write anything to the audrino so that it recognizes the 3 axises.

You need all the hardware connected and I really don't understand your configuration. Your Interface is set up for 6 axis but you are only using 3 in the Axis Assignment.

Has COD been patched for motion and if so to what patch?

PS I was told that I should be able to see the interface with just the board and the game is this not correct?

I'm guessing you are running your own sketch for Arduino, as none of the Simtool compatible sketches available on this site will support steppers. As such your sketch should consist of something like this: A serial interface section to Read/decode the data being sent by simtools - a conversion section to convert/scale the simtools data into something that will properly drive the steppers (use the Arduino stepper library) - a 'homing' section to home the steppers when they first initialise as they are blind to the world (code could integrate with end stop limit switches on your rig).

Moved the last several posts from the IL-2 thread to this one. Please try to keep your requests for build information in the same place. It makes it easier for people to help you.

The thing that I would like to know is that I can not even get Simtools Virtual Axis to work while flying il2 Cliffs of dover. I should at least see that the game is sending the data to the program and nothing is moving on the sliders. Last are you saying that I need to write a program to get the Audrino to work? This I am not good at coding. My goal was to use steppers high torque to tun the cockpit a full 360 in all directions. Last when I turn on the game: 1 Game manager recognizes it is working and the game is properly patched. I have the .cs file for the corresponding mission, when I start up the mission the Virtual Axis is not showing any movement. Any help with coding the Audrino would be greatly appreciated.

Ok I am struggling here to even test the virtual axis it is turned on and the game manager says the game is running but still no luck. I hook the Audrino to the MB so that it would read the com port and nothing. Tried the live for speed walk through and could not get that on rolling under net. Not sure if 127.0.0.1 and the port is correct. Will try again today but I tried Cliffs of Dover and put in the port on the config file and noting their either. Any help would be greatly appreciated. all my motor controlers get here to run the steppers next week and I would like the game at least connected to the software and showing the movement under Virtual axis.

What needs to go into the Interface Settings to test the Virtual Axis's?

The LFS settings for use without a simulator specifically state to use the settings as described, which means Output Type has to be SER, not Net: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/threads/game-engine-exceptions.7080/#post-82208

Moved from the il2 plugin thread.

Harry you need to concentrate on getting your system configured correctly. You have a thread going and people are trying to help you here. Please do not post in the game plugin threads about hardware configuration issues. Only post there if you are having problems with the plugin themselves.

Ok since I have 2 basic problems one is getting the virtual axis recognized by one lads and then making sure the .cs file is accurate I am posting in the 2 areas that are distinct to my struggle. The gent above is naking sure sumtoola is working in basic mode with lfs and if that works I will go back to vr axis and cliffs and work on getting it rolling. I then will post pics of motor controllers and audrino to finalize dirt axis. I am no programmer and when he started about making a sketch for audrino I will then need more help. Lol

Please stop posting about this issue in other threads until we get your issues worked out here. It clutters those threads.

I vaguely remember that sim tools will not receive telemetry until there is a valid interface set up. So the issue is, in my opinion, not related to the game plugin but rather with your arduino setup (which other have tried to explain to you).

What you might do is load the smc3 sketch into your arduino for testing purposes. This sketch will not run your steppers but it would allow you to test sim tools with LFS.

As far as I know, and I might be wrong, but there is no arduino (or any other interface) to control steppers that is compatable with Simtools.
