I am building actuators for a 2DOF plus yaw "balanced" rig and am ordering 80st-m02430 Servo Motors and drivers. Is there any reason I might want a motor with a brake. I can see if building a 6 DOF rig where you don't want everything to sag when power is off you might want brakes on your motor, but I don't think I need a brake in my application. Am I missing something? thanks

If you want youre balaced rig locked when power is off you need breakes with a free walking gearbox or ballscrew with a self cocking whormgearbox there is no need for a breake
