Now I know this may sound like a stupid question, Especially because of the site we are on,
But I have an idea that I would like to put into practise and you boys seem to know your stuff.

Hypothetically speaking, Would it be possible to have the inputs of say a G25/7 control motors/actuators while retaining the info to a pc. For example could I build a sim where depressing the throttle will make it tilt backwards when it’s not connected to a computer, But then have another usb connected to the computer for the regular wheel inputs.

Think of it this way, Imagine connecting a motor off the throttle pedal pot, Only the connection is happening after the usb.
So, G25/7 usb connects to a board that sends data to a motor but also sends the same data back out of a usb to connect to a computer.

Remember this is hypothetical question while logic gets thrown out the window, Also I’m currently only interested in pitch.
I’m sure you guys will be able to help me out with my future endeavour.

    Thanks,
    AJ.

It wouldn't be very accurate, as you would feel the same acceleration regardless of speed. Think about when you plant the throttle and spin up the wheels, you don't go anywhere so no acceleration but with this set up you'd get maximum acceleration, or when you're at the rev limiter

Yes I understand this, And this is why I asked for logic to be thrown out the window.
It’s hard to explain and I really don’t want to share my idea to people that could build this ten times faster than I could.

Someone just humour me and show me a way to make it feasible,
I just want proof of concept.
    Thanks.

has been done before, by patching into ya motor controlls on wheel sending it to a 12v relay to drive a motor , simple setup but only really gives ya an arcade feel not a sim feel. Google it some more ya will see this has been done. i had one setup for my playstation till i found this site and built a unit for my pc.

Good idea but ya repeating someones elses idea.
But if this is what ya want go for to me gave a nice effect on console racing, just remember limit switchs to stop the motion and maybe a varaible resistor to limit speed.

    Sounds like what I’m after,
    What should I be googling?
With yours did you have to open your g25 and run wires off the pots or was it a plug and play?

ah yes had to hack the g25 to gain points of access but used a 3.5mm socket for each motor once finished i it was a plug n play

Yea, That’s going to be a problem,
Unfortunately my sim will be open to the public on occasions, So for legal reasons I can’t “hack” the g25/7.
Can you think of a way to get the values off the usb?
From what I’ve read I might be able to do it using “Arduino” or similar with a usb shield however I am yet to put this idea into practise.

So in other words, I’m in way over my head and I should quit while I’m ahead.
I might just do a xsim one and see how I go from there,
    Thanks Boys.

Hello AJ, not necessarily quit , but go back to the drawing board.
As you can see, even we do not have the complete tools available to ourselves .
Perhaps build a sim and go from there. You will be surprised at what you may get for a result.
    Cheers, David.
