Hello, I am in the planning part of putting a chair together myself.
I will use it for Flightsim and some driving-games.

I allready have a Velleman USB-card, chair and the material for building the cage, pneumatic cylinders and valves are going to be ordered soon.
the plan is to make it modular so that i can exchange parts of the superstructure to make it suited for wheel and pedals for driving OR joystick, throttle and pedals for flightsim.

    the questions are:
What movement are recomended, how many degrees +/- on pitch, and +/- on roll?

is there a recomended pivot-point for the axes?

is there any need for potentiometers on the axes, so that the X-sim software knows when the chair is in center or end position?

    Okay,
Can you use the Xsim software/vellemancard for the frex-chair to?
I think I'll probably build a R'n'R first, and then see how it works out, and then maby build a Frex later on

    btw.
DOES the R'n'R use potmeters to find the center and end positions, and the current position?

    Hello Alekoy,

Yes it does , somehow through Velleman USB-kit it seems to have some bugs! I have the Velleman USB-kit and don't seem to have real bugs!

Right now i'm building a new extension controller (with a Bourns 10 turn potentiometer). I hope next week 1 prototype will be ready!

Like you I like Flightsims and racesims!
For Flightsims the R´n´R chair is the real way to go!
(in MS FSX and the room completely darkened i get the real stomach feeling!!)

For Racesims I think Frex style setup is needed ( Shige T is really right with his setup). Like mentioned in other posts on this site i´m designing
a Frex setup to be used by 50 mm. diameter 270 mm. hub pneumatic cylinders!

I want to use Aluminium profiles to be able to change to cylinder positions and angles during setup testing. The current design will use 40x40 mm. profiles.

Before i go that way i want to test the new valveblock and new potentio´s!

    I´ll keep everybody updated!!

    allright
I am mainly a Flightsim-person, I really like racesims to, but mostly they last like a week or two before I get bored of them.
But flightsim, with lots of addons, so that the tarrain looks like it is in reality, and when i see and recognise landmarks here in Norway, it is majestic.

I have a projector-setup, and I am also thinking about buying a TrackIR-kit, i guess the sensor must be mounted on the chair-cradle somehow.
but i will tackle that later on.
I have bought sylinders and valves now, 10 stroke, two for the roll and two for the pitch, like your chair.

okay, about the screens/projector, that was what I was worried about. maby I'll use the projector until later, and then go for a 3-monitor setup on the chair, when my wallet allows it... (I'm restauring a 67 Chevrolet Chevelle on the rest of my sparetime..)

The valves i bought are a SMC-valve array (manifold), with 10 valves on it (bought used, from a factory nearby) and i THINK i can modify it to do the same job as the normal (single) ones, time will show, and if i dosent work, I'll have to buy single ones. (the factory had some single valves to, but only 6 of them...

jupp, only the addons I have are freeware, but still VERY acurate.
and I will probably use a laptop i have for flightmap and controlling the r'n'r chair (a single computer do other things than control the X-sim software? and not be dedicated to the x-sim?)

the plan is anyways to have one computer to run Flightsim, and another one to run the x-sim software and mapsoftware
